+xCeltic Football Club announced today that Chief Executive Dom McKay has stood down from his position for personal reasons. #CelticFC’s Director of Legal and Football Affairs Michael Nicholson has been appointed to the Board of Celtic plc as acting CEO. Full statement ⤵️ this is crazy. rumour is that his dealings with the board made him feel like he was unable to do his job. supposedly he went over his chain of commands heads to sign jovanovic. there's talk about a board rejig coming up now. but that same thing has been talked about for a while.

+xSt Johnstone leading over Rangers after half time prob lift the Celtic morale a bit. I've been watching this game for half an hour. Some real average play, long balling a lot. Horrendous tackles and strange (at times) Reffing makes you wonder about this League. Both feet up from behind and scissor tackles have featured. Yellow card might get given. Keeper makes last man foul to prevent a goal and gets yellow. Our Refs not as bad as people say. That didn't last now Rangers have a pen. Straight to brawl punches thrown. Quite the spectacle. 4 Yellow cards no reds. LOL.

+x+xTurmoil at the BJK camp. Ange will do well to last the season. The odds have been stacked against Ange from the start. He inherited a squad that finished 25 points off the pace last season and needed (still needs) a significant overhaul and strength in depth. Then, since arriving, has had to play almost a youth side in pre-season friendlies and once the season got underway had tonuse new signings as soon as they arrived, with a number of key want-away players such as Christie, to now have his star signing injured and the CEO leave in the same week! Football, gotta love it. Still, Ange new this would be a challenge so kudos to him for taking it on. If we were using academic grades of fail, pass, credit, distinction and high distinction, I’d say he is sitting on a credit. Whether that’s enough for the Board or hard core Celtic fans, well I don’t know, you might be right. Fair points. Ange has done all that can be asked of him at this point and from what I can tell most Celtic fans appreciate that.

+xKyogo out for up to a month Massive loss. Especially as it sounds like Giakoumakis is pretty unfit and won't be starting for a while.

Full statement ⤵️ Shame that. Seemed like a very forward thinking, progressive, open minded and brave CEO - he made the decision to hire Ange after all which he should be given huge huge props for. Hope he picks up a role with another club in future

+x+xKyogo starting at number 10 against China. Played the full 90 I think. As did CalMac in his match. Actually, some news reports out of Scotland indicate Kyogo injured his knee and was replaced in second half. Didn’t sound good. Bugger.

+x+xRogic playing the full 90mins against Vietnam almost guarantees he won’t be ready to start on the weekend for Celtic. He got kicked a bit too, so hopefully he pulls up ok. Strange decision by Arnie to play a 60 minute player for 90 minutes. As long as there are no ramifications from the knocks 90 hard minutes will probably do him good early in the season. Possibly, yes, fingers crossed.

+x+ximagine what ange could do with this scotland team... Robertson and Tierney as wingbacks and Billy Gimour + McGregor... he would have a ball coaching them. Got McGinn too who is an excellent player, was Aston villa's best the last few years after Grealish. Then McTominay also. Just really lack a RB/RWB, CB and CF. I'd play Robinson at left CB Move him centrally like Gus did with Neil against Uruguay

I reckon Ange has had a pretty good window. You'd have to say nearly all the signings add something to the team and have the ability to play his way.
Couple of weeks to work with the non-internationals... would not be surprised if they're flying shortly. Didn't deserve to lose against Rangers.

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+ximagine scoring 26 from 30 games in the Eredivise, winning golden boot and your team still gets relegated that's insane lol Makes the stats even more impressive. Imagine what he can do now with a gaffa that speaks the same language? Isn't that racist? Greeks daring to speak to each other in public? Not sure Pauline, what do you think? The FFA was called racist for not signing Beisla as NT coach because he didn't speak the same language. Now you're suggesting that it's important. Why is this instance different? No the FFA was criticized as being STUPID for not bringing Bielsa in as NT coach but that's besides the point. The casual racism aspect was pretty much expected from an organization (and ALL that support it) that had championed apartheid based on ancestral ethnicity and obviously still does. Put aside your rather feeble attempts at anti-Hellenic baiting for moment and re-read my post. Greek player, plays in Holland under coach who would have communicated to him in English and scores a bag. Same kid now playing for an Irish monoethnic social club in Scotland has a coach who speaks the same language thus can relay instructions a lot more efficiently - therefore should score a bigger bag of goals. That seems logical to me. I hope he does well. Indeed, Celtic have had a very good signing window. Only lacking a really tough holding midfielder for my liking but maybe McCarthy will get fit. Over 100 games at Everton so he must be ok although I can’t ever recall watching him play. Its not apparent how much of these signings are Ange's choices though. I think Giakoumakis is a decent up top partner for Kyogo, is a hungry scrappy goal-sneaky kind of lad and will do extremely well against 90% of the Scottish Premiership teams.... Eduorde, to me, seemed like he just gets in the way so surprised to see him go to EPL? He really only seemed to have a decent game against AZ this year every other match seems to go missing. Dont know much about the American with the double barrel machine gun name (pardon the pun) on loan from Spurs that Ds mentioned previously. Any ideas? English born. Was Once highly regarded in the Spurs academy system, might've even played a few games for them in the EPL in his early days. But has gone the way many Americans/Australians do in Europe and struggle to really kick on during the 20-23 year old age bracket. Been farmed out on-loan the last few season mainly in the Championship with Sheffield United (before they were promoted), Swansea and Bournemouth. Played regularly everywhere he has gone. Just hasn't really progressed probably as much as he was hyped up to. (Mainly by Americans.) Celtic were in for him a few months ago on-loan but, Tottenham wanted to sell him, however no one wanted him out-right. So without any suitors Celtic approached for him again and Spurs pretty much had no choice lol.
In fairness to American players lately in that age bracket, CCV sorta an outlier in terms of players not kicking on. Pulisic, Reyna at Dortmund, Richards at Bayern now on loan at Hoffenheim, McKennie at Juventus, Adams at Leipzig, Dest at Barca, Konrad at Marseille, Weah at Lille, Aaronsonn at Salzburg and some others all in that age group or even younger and solidly in good teams in top 5 leagues (minus Aaronson). there was hope CCV would join that group but he’s been left behind and pretty far out of the US depth chart going into WCQs. Most US fans think Celtic a good spot for him, been decent at all those Championship clubs. Had plenty of opportunities to make his way at Spurs and clearly not at that level. 'Lately' being the key word there. CCV turns 24 at the end of the year, it was only really Pulisic at 22 who was the real outlier 4-5 years ago when he burst onto the scene. When the US failed to qualify for the WC I think this coincided with the likes of Boyd, McKennie, Richards, Konrad, Dest, Reyna coming through representing this new generation post 2018. Before that it was pretty bleak, and I vaguely remember on some American forums they were pretty buoyant about CCV's future because there wasn't really anyone else bar Pulisic. The US are having a real emergence, if anything its way overdue too. Heaps of quality coming through the MLS nowadays. Hoping for Ange's sake CCV can kick on!
