+x+xEveryone's favourite AA has finally got on the field for his first mins since round 1. Volpato came on in the 72nd min in a 1-1 draw. He nearly won it with a deflected shot. He also showed some fantastic technical ability, playing around the #10/ right wing area of the field. Looked good - I hope he does end up playing for us. I thought Volpato had committed to the Socceroos? Talks have progressed but there's no decisive statement. The wording seemed stronger than Toure though so here's hoping we can get it all done by March next year. Is it 3 A caps to be secured?

+xGoodwin is on fire scored a double in 2-3 loss in Saudi Pro League. Saudi league is currently the 2nd most spending league in the world only behind EPL Weirdly enough he's probably playing at the highest level of any socceroo starting regularly atm. Maybe equal with Matty Ryan

I think it’s minutes played in senior Fifa tournament after the age of 18 or something. So 1 minute played in WCQ or Acup at 18 years + secures him

So would need 4 matches in the qualifiers (or just on the field at Asian Cup) to fully secure forever and ever.

You can see from my pic that Catania is pretty much my 'abroad' club, but that was long before both the Pelligra takeover, and the recent Popovic signing. I'll generally follow clubs overseas with Australians in them (Nurnbuerg was one back in the day during Beauchamp's time) but that's generally about it.

It's arguably within the top 10 in Europe just below Belgium, Portugal and Netherlands.

It’s not far away No, he can be selected as part of the Asian Cup squad, provided he is an Australian citizenship by birth, or by residency for I think at least 5 years (he qualifies by birth, obviously, but just making reference to residency requirements. In terms of the WCQ beforehand though, FA needs to submit a 35 player list no less than 30 days before the first match, but can add to this list no less than 24 hours before the qualifying match in question.

Add to that the entire Saudi national team who are basically equal with us these days, all play in the Saudi league unlike our best players!
A lot of you showcasing absolute football snobbery with some of your comments above.

The pace of Saudi league games are like a training match. Lots of big names just trotting along on big money. It's lifted since the influx of stars but it's a bloody dull league still. Their goal will be joining European competitions with partial games in Saudi than bringing players just for their own domestic competition.

I still have a soft spot for Middlesbrough and Blackburn because of the Aussies that have played there over the years. Atm I'm enjoying St Pauli a lot. Good shout out for Volendam.

Once AA leave I lose a lot of interest but the emblem still sticks out when scrolling the matchday. Followed Kortrijk a bit while Sainsbury was there. Hearts, Hibs and Boro I check regularly. Ipswich are just a joy currently. AA is the only thing that'll get me to have sympathy for St Pauli.

Their goal will be joining European competitions with partial games in Saudi than bringing players just for their own domestic competition. Biggest reason why the pace is slow is because of the heat. A hell of a lot easier to go full pace in a cold climate. When the socceroos play against the Arab teams away you see a marked decline in the pace of the game.

Metcalfe on. Heads down to Irvine for half volley which is blocked by hand and leads to a penalty. 1:1
Glover and Silvera starting against Exeter who are without Watts which is a shame. I'll watch it on DAZN.
AMB starting in league game.

I just find the Saudi league is something of a fantasy world and there are a lot of games that are horrible to watch in empty grounds. I know the A League has this problem too....

Boro in an away kit akin to the Mariners away kit as Silvera skies a shot.
St Pauli advance after ET.

Nice first time hit by Exeter sees it curve and spin just over Glover's fingertips and hit the underside of the bar and in. Glover in the very centre of his 5 yard box which would seem naturally correct but in the sniper's sights for a shot like that. Upon seeing the replay it seemed a weak jump attempt. Poor trailing to block by the very experienced McNair.

Silvera makes it 2:1 for Boro with a dribble inward from the left and can curve it low and hard into the corner. Good placement like his recent goal. Great movement to beat the man and then release.

Deflection gives the ball the wicked push to the side and speed boost that Glover just can't get to it. 2:2. This Trevitt kid on loan from Brentford will be one to watch.
Glover nearly dribbles it into his own goal. Recently it's happened a lot with these suicidal touches at the back. Raya for Arsenal a few games back. See it more every weekend now. Would have to run numbers but it's statically probably just as good to go long and win the ball there than playing out and turning it over from the third pass anyway.

Boro get a penalty and advance 3:2. Charlton win 3:2 in the league. AMB fortunate the newer preferred keeper got hurt.

Burgess starting vs Fulham and Luongo bench in a mixed 11. Ipswich will aim to keep that league gap which is 9 points from 3rd and 11 from 6th. Mental. Not counting chickens but should Ipswich go up Burgess would be very deserving of a chance to play in their EPL campaign. In regards to Souttar, if he isn't being considered much for the Championship campaign then clearly he won't be for the EPL next season at Leicester. It's really time to push for a winter move away.
