Can anyone weigh in on why the Socceroos and Matildas use the coat of arms on the national team jerseys and not the FA badge like most of the rest of the world does?

I mean some of them are garbage but the FA logo isnt that terrible compared to like US or Canada for example.

My pet peeve on Aussie merch is how clearly it stands out from what the team wears on the pitch... Not upset about the coat of arms as a symbol before anyone jumpos down my throat but perhaps, if we used a modified version of it (like England does with FA 3 lions badge) then there wouldnt be an issue with fans also wearing it with pride???

The coat of arms is way better than that dog turd of an FA logo are you seriously having a whine about that?

"I'm not racist but"

It's a valid question when most countries around the world use their association logo, and not a coat of arms/other national emblem though (even though FIFA allows the use of either/both)

Hahaha, and even then, if we go by the usual woke metrics, the racism is usually inferred from those wanting to KEEP the coat of arms.

While we're on coat of arms, I've decided to do that research I said I would into Seth Efrica and Espana:

South Africa Proteas logo (from an article about the 2023 Rugby World Cup)
the Protea is the official emblem of all South African sports teams, according to the government’s National Colours Act, taking precedence over the Springbok.

This isn't a coat of arms, nor the SAFA logo, but is an official government national symbol (And features across South African sporting teams such as the Springboks, Bafana Bafana and the Proteas (Cricket)
Shirt badge/Association crest

Spanish coat of arms logo
Interesting one, as I can't find a thing that says its a government reason (granted, I didn't look too hard). The only thing I can find is:
Spain's official coat of arms is its national symbol. It appears on the national flag, the Spanish flag, and on items that represent Spain, such as the national football team's jerseys. It was approved by law in 1981, after the transition to democracy.

But, they do actually use a modified version since 2008(?) that is the coat of arms with an added banner featuring an old-timey football and the RFEF initials (Spanish FA)

And, more towards my question, the countrie's fans can wear the symbol with pride in the stands :)

Well... pre 2008, Spain just had the coat of Arms - no RFEF branding alongside it. So.. must just be local legislation here that forbids the direct use of it outside of a representative uniform, as clearly in South Africa and Spain, they allow these symbols/coat of arms to be worn outside that realm.

So, seeing as the kit generator thingy I use online now has the Nike template up (well, at least the version that England uses), these are my two new mock ups of what I think we are getting. Main thing that I think will change is the collar.

Still no kits for this matchday - so... surely will be for Round 3 (September)

Side note - Hong Kong's was launched today (also Nike), which, apart from the little pattern they have, may be very, very similar to what we'll get. I mean.. we'll definitely be getting that goalkeeper design (just depends on the colours I guess.. but there's always a large range of colours used by the GK)

Might do some mockups on these designs when I get a chance..

Just had my version of this arrive from dhgate.

https://www.asics.com/au/en-au/team-australia-olympic-replica-football-tee/p/AOP_2033B896-750.html

https://www.dhgate.com/product/24-25-australia-olympique-national-team-soccer/985651100.html?dspm=pcde.orderlistpage.astab.1.tRyA8D5igEh5gF1p0HmO&stockCountry=CN

I can't see much of a difference. The lighting greatly affects the colour. The players appear to have different, better, official ones while the ASICS site for fan replace has the little air holes just like my dhgate one. You can tell everything has been printed on one of those big jersey machines but for 15€ it's a good sport shirt.

Been tempted to get this - also saw it on the little knock-off site that I get things off too. Although they're selling for $65...
Was definitely going to get if Olyroos qualified - Might look into it as part of my tax return splurge

How would one feel about this? This is about the closest I can make it on my little kit creator thing. It's not the white version (the pattern that I've been able to apply doesn't really allow for that...) But have done a navy/gold/white version (as has traditionally been our away colours since 1998)

Thanks a lot for putting it together but my god it looks so Scottish all of a sudden. I hadn't considered that. We played all navy in 2006.

Perhaps green might be something. Do we dare try sky blue and  maroon for something different but traditional?

It was 16€ for me and free shipping and got to Germany in 10 whole days, not business days. Couldn't believe the doorbell ringing this morning. It's a very solid replica and I'd be really keen to know how it would stack up against the Asics ones being sold on their site as 'replicas.' It would appear the green on the arm ends are a tad darker on the official site while my patterns have been printed on using one of those jersey making machines. All Socceroo ones I have ordered have been flawless. Some sellers for the Matildas have real photos instead of digital images and my 2 were shocking with flat printed logos and names and no embroidery or adhesives. This shirt is double that of the Matildas ones but below that of my 12? Roos ones.

The player versions clearly have their own green ends on the arms of thicker material whereby these replicas come across as an overpriced rip off for Olympic fans.

Mixed feelings. Dhgate order arrived. Pica of Socceroos kit. Unfortunately Matildas arrived with Iredale and Bos on the back so it just looks dumb. Only 13€ each. The printing is actually excellent in colour and quality. The stores are clearly duping by using men's kit photos with only the women's team in stock. The shading of the kit colour is poor. Good exercise shirts.

Looks like some made up mish mash of old shirts (can see shades of 2005 and 2022 in the home one), and the spew kit in the navy one, so wouldn't expect anything out of these ones.

The "current" kit got launched on September 15 2022, so that would put the previous kits last match to the qualifier v Peru.

That previous kit launched September 17 2020, so would probably put it to the same timeframe. COVID seems to have changed the timing of new Socceroos shirts (as it was previously in line with all the other nations that would be launched by the first FIFA window of the calendar year (March)

Lots of nice memories in our current kit. Wasn't too keen initially but it looked better and better. Excited yet a bit fearful of what's next. Didn't really like the one for 22 qualification. WC 2018 was slightly better than the qualification one.
