+x+xCFG lost $200m last year, wouldn't hurt that much to cover the Awards night ? Again.... I love the stupidity of this Forum. Get a random person or billionaire to pump 20 million dollars a year in A-league clubs just for the hell of it. LoL We had it easy in 2013-17 when the tv rights money was 40 million a year. Then those stupid A-league owners got stupid and greedy. Those owners all wanted more money in their back pocket rather than spend money to improve the squad to bring the crowds in. Lol Football fans usually follow teams Some now just follow particular players wherever they're playing Then you get those who cheers endlessly for Broadcast networks Niche

Leaders in Asia on this topic. nice to hear.... Imagine if there is no A-league in 2024-5 No big deal. Most of the Aleague franchises have had 20 years to build a membership base and they will all have a senior team competing in the state based NPLs for their fans to follow.. They will just have to start building again to get to the top league. Yeah I bet you guys that do nothing but bag the A League are loving this. Still don't really understand all of the hate, considering most of our NT players come through the league. Do the clubs they get poached FROM not deserve any recognition? Yeah they deserve recognition for developing the players, but it still doesn't explain why you have such a problem with the A League? Say one of your club's players gets signed directly by a big OS club, your not going to have a problem with that are you, because it's in the player's best interest for their career? When a player from NPL and below gets signed directly to an overseas contract that indeed is a major cause of celebration... Even if the player is non contracted here the Australian club would usually get some sort of player training compensation at the least... some even pocket a hefty sum to then use to train further players. I dont have a problem with the Aleague, it doesnt exist for me and thousands of others ... nor does it want to engage with us.. It is "fishing where the fish are" and good luck to it... while it lasts. Fair enough. You support one of the big teams in the EPL don't you? Why did you start feeling engaged with that team/ league? You've got a league right at your doorstep, with most of the best young Aussie players, Socceroos past & present, playing and it's of no interest whatsoever? What are you talking about.... I support the league "right at my doorstep" and have done for the last 40 odd years.... Was at the match on Sunday, will be at the OG derby at Somers St vs Knights on Friday and then the FA cup match against Preston on Tuesday... If my team ever gained promotion to the Aleague then perhaps I would watch other clubs matches like I do NPL at the moment, until then Aleague doesn't exisit for me.... not sure what part of that is hard to understand? My "support" for Liverpool is a tv thing, who cares if they win or lose? just like watching other overseas football, it makes it more interesting if you have a team in the league to barrack for. Your argument is stupid. Why not just treat aleague as a tv thing. Also it’s on at good times and has aussies in it. Sure OK Ill watch the Victory game on tv this Saturday, which channel is it on? Paramount+ only for these games.
Sorry that prices me out of the equation ... Oh well cant say I didnt try :P First leg of the semi was on FTA, but they say because the second leg is a decider then you have to pay. Really dumb. Pretty sure the GF will only be on Paramount+ as well. According to tv guide Mariners v Smurfs is on ch 12/10 bold 7.30 👍 nux v victory only Paramount. GF who knows? There you go Mono, you can watch the Sea Bogans on Saturday. To be honest, that will be the better game to watch. MV and Nix are the worst match-up for the neutral viewer. Ill try and catch it but have a few things on Saturday... I was more interested in the GF though, at least one game a year I try and watch... pretty stupid move to have it hidden I honestly haven't watched many Australian grand finals... I could probably actually list all the ones I've watched. Sydney v Mariners 2006 Melbourne v Adelaide 2007 F3 Derby 2008 (featuring MC Dickslap) 2009 I think was the Melbourne v Adelaide rematch? That was around when I stopped watching grand finals regularly.... The ones in my memory bank are Brisbane v Mariners 2011? with the comeback Brisbane v Perth would have been 2012 with the penalty Next I remember is Big Blue 2015 There was the Adelaide v Wanderers one which I remember was before I got married, so would have to be 2016. Then another Big Blue some around there, followed up by Perth v Sydney would have been the last one I watched?
Pretty sure my first one actually was one of the Perth NSL Grand Finals, I would have been 10-11 at the time though so I don't remember much except my brother going on about his mate at Northern Spirit
I remember a couple of Brisbane ones and funnily enough I actually went to the Victory v Adelaide one in 2007 (my 3rd and last ever Aleague match) I reckon I have watched most of them over the years.... nothing stands out to me though...
The Perth v Wolves GF from NSL days was memorable as of course the 1991 classic :) Still remember tearing up in the stands, we robbed the Knights that day my friend, stole it from their fingertips.... people were streaming out of the ground in defeat, the Cro boys where chanting "We are the champions" in glee and Joey Palatsidis scored one of the most memorable goals I have ever witnessed live (not the prettiest or even that good tbh) just football nirvana.... and Puskas sitting on the bench, watching us lose our minds in the terraces, and not even flinching....

Brisbane v Mariners 2011? with the comeback
Find this video, do yourself a favour!!!! Yeah I watched that one... Postacoglou in charge during the "Roarcelona" years yeah? Great football to watch... I reakon I watched the most Aleague during those 2-3 years than I ever have or will.
That's how I feel looking back on Ange's time in the A-League. Unfortunately too young to remember the NSL Ange era
I'm young enough to remember his playing years

haha mate, no mobiles, no wifi, no political correctness, no VAR, play to the whistle, mullets, plenty fish where the fish were, absolute mess, what are metrics, 2bob beers, NO RBT, eat drink smoke whereever haha FREEDOM FREEDOM :)
Come on LFC, we've had our go, you sound like the old guy from the Simpson's 'yelling at the clouds'. As Bob Dylan sang many years ago, 'the times they are changing'. It continues to change, this is the one thing that is constant, change. 'Your old road is rapidly aging Please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand 'Cause the times, they are a-changin'
Times are indeed changing ... the old racists are slowly dying out... soon this country and this sport will finally be free again.
Don't kid yourself with the racists line, it's going nowhere fast in this country.
True, but they are at least finally disappearing from football now that the Aleague is on its last legs.
Another of your wet dreams.
I wonder if Mono's wet dreams include the A-League selling out both semis this weekend, Newcastle getting new owners & Canberra starting up next season? I agree the APL admin goes from one catastrophe to another & yet the A-League runs on an oily rag.
The APL are more pathetic than the FFA.

Pretty sure my first one actually was one of the Perth NSL Grand Finals, I would have been 10-11 at the time though so I don't remember much except my brother going on about his mate at Northern Spirit I remember a couple of Brisbane ones and funnily enough I actually went to the Victory v Adelaide one in 2007 (my 3rd and last ever Aleague match) I reckon I have watched most of them over the years.... nothing stands out to me though... The Perth v Wolves GF from NSL days was memorable as of course the 1991 classic :) Still remember tearing up in the stands, we robbed the Knights that day my friend, stole it from their fingertips.... people were streaming out of the ground in defeat, the Cro boys where chanting "We are the champions" in glee and Joey Palatsidis scored one of the most memorable goals I have ever witnessed live (not the prettiest or even that good tbh) just football nirvana.... and Puskas sitting on the bench, watching us lose our minds in the terraces, and not even flinching.... https://www.facebook.com/smfc59/videos/1991-nsl-grand-final/502049470967902/ Brisbane v Mariners 2011? with the comeback Find this video, do yourself a favour!!!!

Not really wet but yeah I do dream of a tolerant Australian society...

I only responded to NCB's gif for the lol's - moved on long ago and enjoying myself alot with my young gen fam who lead me to many new outlooks though need to say, never liked or watched the Simpsons yanky crap nor many of Dylans songs, depressing music alot of it to me barring some classics.

+x+xNope I dont love the A-league is struggling. I still wish we had all the games on foxtel and foxtel paid 60-70 million a year for 8 years for it. Then have one or 2 free to air games on Channel 10. If we leave Paramount (and the rumours are that we might) and we join another streaming service, who will be our FTA partner? If we go back to Fox Sports for example, I would doubt Channel 10 will continue to do the 2 games on 10Bold. And I don't really fancy being on secondary channels on the ABC or SBS. +x According to tv guide Mariners v Smurfs is on ch 12/10 bold 7.30 👍 nux v victory only Paramount.
Will Paramount be doing their own commentary for Nix v Victory? Or are we taking the Sky Sports feed with those shocking NZ commentators? That might explain why its not on 10Bold. +xI honestly haven't watched many Australian grand finals... I could probably actually list all the ones I've watched. Last year was the first one i didn't watch... And I did it out of protest. I dont mind The A-league free to air games on secondary channels on ABC or SBS, Its better than nothing. Just need the clowns who run the joing to pay advertisement money to promote it. Channel 10 got the A-league rights for nothing and didnt promote it. Had the APL paid 3-5 million a year to promote that free to aire games, would more people watch it? This sport doesnt have as much rusted on fans like AFL or NRL

Yeah I watched that one... Postacoglou in charge during the "Roarcelona" years yeah? Great football to watch... I reakon I watched the most Aleague during those 2-3 years than I ever have or will.
Simon Hill with a rather good spray https://open.spotify.com/episode/6ENOoGNghQUhymDWvJ6PAZ?si=T0CBEurVTvqTT7YWt76GJARelevant to this thread is his assertion that the TV deal hasn't changed since the 22/23 re-negotiation Any drop in Central Funding is down to the APL, not Paramount

+xNope I dont love the A-league is struggling.
