Quote: Brown and Pointer to be White Eagles till 2012
Bonnyrigg White Eagles’ coaching duo of Brian ‘Bomber’ Brown (head coach) and Cliff Pointer (assistant coach) have agreed to extend their deals with the club till the end of season 2012 it was reported by club officials this week.
The board of Bonnyrigg White Eagles have been very happy with Brown and Pointer since they commenced with the club last year and with the extensive recruitment drive in 2010, the board has shown its support and faith behind the coaching management.
Bonnyrigg White Eagles Football Manager George Mandic was delighted to have agreed to terms with his well known coaching staff.
“Brian Brown was always on the club’s radar ever since the Bonnyrigg White Eagles were part of the NSW Premier League.
“The club knows that both Brian and Cliff are the best coaching duo in the league and with them at the helm, Bonnyrigg White Eagles know the club can only go one way and that is to the top.
“The club wants trophies and we believe both can deliver success and develop players at the Bonnyrigg White Eagles.”
The Bonnyrigg White Eagles has by far been the busiest in recruiting new players as 11 new signings have been made by the club for season 2010.

You say I have no idea about the history and the meaning of the club. My Grandfather was there building King Tom. He is a foundation member of the club. My father has been going to games since he was in a stroller and is a member of the club. I have been going to games since I can remember and am a member of the club. Sydney Croatia is in my blood and will continue to be until the day I cease to exist. Don't you dare question my love for my club you fucking internet hero. All you do is blab about your great Sydney Olympic when they are a 2nd rate club now that can't even make the semis of the NSWPL. Haven't won a title since 2001 and haven't made a Grand Final since 2002. Your "Olympic Ultras" are a pathetic group of guys who think they are heroes because they have a fucking Facebook group. Seriously Facebook. That's a poor way to measure success. The only way to measure the success of a club is on the field and in the last 10 years out of our 2 clubs the more successful is Sydney Croatia by far.

Quote: Daejeon Citizen FC and Marconi Stallions play out exciting friendly clash NSW Premier League side Marconi Stallions continued their pre-season preparation for the upcoming 2010 season in a highly entertaining match against South Korean K-League Championship aspirants, Daejeon Citizen FC at Valentine Sports Complex, Glenwood last Wednesday.Daejeon Citizen FC was established in 1997 and is a community owned football club in South Korea. They are currently in Sydney on a grueling 5 week pre-season camp, with some 6 friendly matches against the NSW Premier and State League opposition. In only their second trial match for the 2010 campaign, the Stallions lost 3-1 but were not disgraced. Both teams went on the offensive seeking an early moral booster which came to the Stallions in the 14th minute when youngster Jarrod Lum was heavily tackled in the 6 yard box, denying him a clear goal scoring opportunity. Stallions’ captain Nahuel Arrarte made no mistake to put his team ahead. Daejeon were recovering from this early setback and began to show the seriousness of this match with many defense splitting runs that would breakdown many good teams. The intensity of this 5 week pre-season camp was evident with the tremendous fitness displayed by the South Koreans. By now, Daejeon pulled many tricks with the Marconi defensive line and shot stopper James Chronopoulos alert and sharp, as the South Koreans fired at him from every angle, at every opportunity. A flurry of attacks from both teams provided excellent entertainment to the 100 strong spectators made up of mainly player’s family members. Daejeon’s Brazilian duo of Ale and Babel, were sheer class and one could see why the South Koreans have them on their books, while Ko Chang Hyeon, stood out from his team mates for his creative abilities. In the 29th minute, Daejeon was on level terms thanks to the penalty spot as Ko Chang Hyeon got his name on the score sheet. With both sides on the score sheet and level, the fast tempo reverted to technical football with some neat one touch play and searching runs from wide players. All square at the half way mark, and it was time for Daejeon to rest their prized Brazilians and a number of first grade regulars to test fringe players. With a squad of 28 players, coaches have many options available and try to get as many players on the park. For Marconi, James Chronopoulos made way for new signing Jose Bello Amigo in goals, who recently returned to Australia after a stint in Spain’s lower football leagues. Daejeon added to their score within minutes, as a cross was not dealt with effectively by the Marconi defense, a scramble ensued leading to their second goal for the evening. Ten minutes later (55’) a long ball was played by Daejeon on one of the flanks which saw a delightfully precise out swinging cross at the end of a South Korean player who hit a thunderous volley which almost ripped the net of it’s mountings to add Daejeon’s third for the match. Marconi created further chances with Anabalon going just wide of Daejeon’s posts after a clever pass from Alex Canak. Marconi youngsters, Nathan Jaglemen and Ryan Hughes combined well to trouble the South Korean’s defense late in the game. As usual, Nahuel Arrate was very consistent in his performance which created interest from Daejeon’s travelling media. Daejeon’s coach Wang Sun-Jae is not a stranger to Sydney as he has family members that still live in Sydney. The travelling South Korean media took great interest in his post match comments however; spent considerable time talking to Marconi Stallions’ boss Lee Sterrey. Sterrey gave some 7 youngsters under the age of 20 an opportunity to show their talent and to expose them to high level football. “It was a good exercise to expose my players to visiting teams and I’m pleased with their output considering that Daejeon are full time professionals and this is our third hit out. “I’m not afraid to use the younger player, after all, they have to start somewhere and this is good a game you get for football education”. http://footballnsw.com.au/index.php?id=17&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=3277&tx_ttnews[backPid]=389&cHash=2afc98ab2a They play against Sydney United on Wednesday 7:30pm at Valentine Sports Park. PAOKTZI wrote:thats great u are one sad person, one minute ur united the other minute ur rovers your a confused sole I've told you before the club in my heart is Sydney United. Rovers are a club I will be following and supporting in the A-League when they come in since they are from Western Sydney. When it comes down to the 2 of them Sydney United wins everytime. I have never once said that I am one and not the other. I have always said that I am a supporter of both clubs but United is the club I hold closest to my heart simply because I've grown up with them. PAOKTZI wrote:u cant be normal and support two clubs in a country 1 division away from another You make it out as if they will one day be playing together. The fact of the matter is they will never be playing in the same competition and since their seasons don't overlap on a major way I can support both teams easily. There is no promotion and relegation with the A-league and NSWPL where teams in the division below have a chance to go up, and there never will be. United and any other team in the NSWPL will never be in the A-League so it's quite easy to support a team in both competitions.

That might have been the team we saw at the SFS during the Sydney FC V Gold Coast match. There all these Asian footballers (in a group) walking around with their training jerseys on.

Quote: Luka Glavas the star as Sydney United win Interstate Friendship Cup Sydney United has won the 2010 ‘Interstate Friendship Cup’ after an entertaining 3-2 victory over two-time former NSL Champions Melbourne Knights at Sydney United Sports Centre, Saturday 30th of January 2010.A second half hatrick from Sydney United favourite Luka Glavas (47p’, 68’, 94’) cancelled out goals from Jean Charles Dubois (37’) and Liam Cannell (89’) in what was an excellent hit-out for the 2009 NSW Premier League Premiers. The game opened with a flurry of possession for the home side but it was the Knight’s who looked the more dangerous on the counter-attack. Melbourne winger Liam Cannell came close to opening the scoring in the 4th minute after expertly cutting in from the right-hand touchline to unleash a low drive to rattle the woodwork from inside the 18-yard box. Sydney United started to find their range as the match went on and should have taken the lead in the 14th minute after former Blacktown City and Sydney Olympic defender Michael Cindric found himself in an excellent position to header in a Shane Lyons corner but pushed wide. As the Edensor Park outfit pressed for the opener, Melbourne were able to counter expertly, pushing the ball wide to the impressive Ivica Prajz who delivered a perfect cross for Jean Charles Dubois to header home in the 37th minute and take a 1-0 lead into half-time. The second half opened much like the first with Sydney United dominating possession and in the 47th minute Elsid Barkhousier was able to latch onto a through ball and before pulling the trigger was fouled inside the 18-yard box. Luka Glavas stepped up and expertly dispatched the penalty to equalise. Melbourne continued to find themselves on the back foot as United continued to push forward. Sydney United soon took the lead thanks to some brilliant work from substitute Ante Tomic to keep the ball in play and feed Elsid Barkhousier who produced a sublime low cross for Luka Glavas who slotted home his second of the evening. With the match seemingly headed towards a United victory, Melbourne drew level in the 89th minute thanks to Liam Cannel who headed powerfully following an excellent Josip Magdic cross. However it was Glavas who had the last laugh, slotting home an injury time winner after Ante Tomic found space in behind the napping Melbourne defence and drove a low ball across the 6-yard box for Glavas to finish. The 2009 NSW Premier League Premiers continue their pre-season campaign with a friendly match against K-League side Daejeon Citizen FC at Valentine Sports Park on Wednesday 3rd of February 2010 (7:30pm).
