Im pretty keen to see who the other secret marquee is that they have lined up. also the future head coach that was rumoured to be assisting this year.
If they bring in a gun marquee midfielder and a solid CB we are looking quite good. still a lot of folk on the melbourne football forum reckon the marquee is going to be Terry... Would make sense.
Surely Cahill won't play in midfield? He's way past that stage. With Novillo probably going I could see a 4-4-2 with Cahill and Fornaroli up front and Bruce and Fitzgerald out wide maybe?

Next Seasons line up...
based on recent signings
3-5-2 Malik---Chapman--Muscat Franjic--Brattan--Caceres--Fitzy Fernando Brandan Fornaroli--Gameiro
Bench: Bouzanis, Bruce K, Tongyik, Arzani, Clisby
4-4-2 Diamond
Franjic-- Chapman--Malik--Muscat Brattan Brandan/Kamau--Fitzy Caceres Fornaroli-- Gameiro
Bench: Bouzanis, Kamau, Clisby, Arzani, Cristaldo
4-3-3 attacking
Franjic--Chapman--Malik--Muscat Brattan--Caceres Brandan/Fitzy Kamau--Gameiro-- Fornaroli
Bench: Bouzanis, Clisby, Tongyik, Cristaldo, Athanasiou
Now obviously we'd like to sign one more ok Visa player and then sign a huge Guest player for the season like maybe I dunno... Timmy. But other than that we are very light on Defence, even with Muscat and Tongyik signing we are still very lightly strung.
Sort of forgot about Melling.... but he will most likely be defensive/midfield back up from the bench

those line ups seem bizzare. muscat will not start. clisby is a better option - there will be a left back and cb bought in before pre season. and brandon will be on the wing. -------------brattan------------caceres ------------------------cahill brandan------------fornaroli-------------kamau/fitz

-------------brattan------------caceres ------------------------cahill brandan------------fornaroli-------------kamau/fitz yes I know, I was going on purely what we have at our disposal at the moment, yeah it is bizarre because we don't have any depth and actual quality hence the weird positioning. However, I don't think Cahill if he does come will play AM I think we may see another signing come through as I think he will tell JVS where he wants to play (upfront), and I guess he will have to abide by him hahah.

Tuesday night’s encounter will see the likes of Ruon Tongyik, Bruce Kamau, Manny Muscat, Daniel Arzani and Luke Brattan have the chance to pull on the City shirt for the first time as they become accustomed to their new side. Wins: 6 Draws: 3 Losses: 12 Last 5 matches: Northcote City: L 3-1 Heidelberg United: L 0-1 Green Gully: L 0-1 Pascoe Vale: L 3-0 Melbourne Knights: L 1-0 After a solid start to the season that saw punters asking if Port Melbourne were finals contenders this season, the Sharks have dramatically fallen off the pace, only winning one of its last ten matches. It’s last win, against bottom side Melbourne Victory, came in early June and Erik Vassiliadis’ men are now in danger of being dragged into the relegation equation if their form doesn’t change soon. Who we should keep an eye on? Although Port’s run of form has not been ideal, the Sharks have weapons in their side with plenty of bite. Jamie De Abreu is a fast winger with plenty of skill on the ball, netting four times this season and an ever-present threat in front of goal with former youth and senior player Adrian Zahra playing his part on the opposite wing. A relatively young side, Port will have the legs to run out the contest, and make the match a 90 minute affair. Squad list as of last match against Northcote City: Luke GAVALAS (GK), Andrew VIOLA, James RICCOBENE, Jamie DE ABREU, Adrian Zahra, Alec GOOWIN, Alan KEARNEY, Sean KELLY, Jacob ELIOPOULOS, Michael STARK (GK), James KARVELIS, James GOULOPOULOS, Bonel OBRADOVIC, Trent MANICAS, Dennis KOUTROULIS, Anthony THOMAS. Who, what, when, where? City take on Port Melbourne on Wednesday 20 July at 7.15pm at JL Murphy Reserve. 430 Plummer Street, Port Melbourne. Members will receive free entry to the match with their e-ticket. Prices for non-members are $10 for Adults and $5 for Juniors. - See more at: http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/article/five-things-you-need-to-know-port-melbourne-v-melbourne-city/q0son9ibjl1g1v85234q74zx8#sthash.RqOAmtp1.M4pAFvhv.dpuf Read more at http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/article/five-things-you-need-to-know-port-melbourne-v-melbourne-city/q0son9ibjl1g1v85234q74zx8#Ax1yYKSVqIDdMU8P.99 $10 or free for members. first chance to see some of the new recruits. pretty comfortable win tonight 5-0 against port melbourne (might have been a couple more i missed a little bit).. the return of luke brattan! (aka chubby jesus. aka short fat irvine..) the line up... a fairly standard 4.3.3. -----------------------------------------------sorensen muscat-----------------chapman-----------------------------ozzie---------------clisby ---------------------------------------------Brattan ---------------------caceres----------------------------------retre arzani?---------------------------------bruno-------------------------------fitz not 100% if it was arzani. he was wearing 19. muscat and clisby looked good. chapman and malik look very mobile. it's a really quick central pairing. they are both skyscrapers as well. brattan bossed midfield. calling the team around and keeping the backline in order. he was a bit rusty but his passing starting to look pretty deadly by the end of the first half. i gotta feeling that mooys passing has been replaced. retre caceres and fitz were active - pressing hard. fornaroli picked up a brace. a free kick just of the D and a penalty. arzani wasnt too involved. SECOND HALF Kilkenny was a straight swap for brattan at half time. looked good, gave the ref heaps of shit, copped shit right back. like "righto mate, fucking settle down". kamau came on the left wing and about 6 other school kids came on who i didnt know. but dominated and picked up 3 goals from open play including a midfielder (who might have been arzani if the other guy wasnt him) Edited by inala brah: 21/7/2016 12:27:26 AM

Edited by inala brah: 21/7/2016 12:27:26 AM #19 on the right wing was Luke Gallo, not Arzani. Kamau didn't play either, that was Yusuf Ahmed that came on to the left wing, Arzani came on in the 2nd half playing up top replacing Bruno & I think the final goal was scored by Austin Wong from the youth team

Wonder how many minutes he'll actually be contracted to play. Can't see him having much time to train

If it is a pisstake I am here for a paycheck only and I don't care about city then the fans will run quicker than they did when Villa was here.

fornroli had a great game. 3 goals from open play including a bicycle kick. he sunk back a bit at times. i would like to think he was a false nine. 2 assists were from kamau - kamau might just end up being the signing of the season. he was slick. muscat should not be in the first team. slow and lazy tonight. pretty much played as a right midfielder - would not track back and left ozzie. chapman and clisby working as more of a 3 and opening up the other side. he was a bit better for 20 minutes after half time - clearly had some instructions but got lazy again and was pulled off. caceres was sharp when he came on. bouzanis was saved from a howler by an offside flag. brattan and kilkenny will make a good pairing when they both get match fit. brattans passing was pretty good for the most part. clisby looks like he will hold down left back. he would be a decent left back with some good defensive tutelage. not under jvs.

Go both ways defend and attack. Muscat also received a lot of praise from the city fans, A very tidy pick up adding leadership. Bruno is god not showing any signs of second year blues.
