Four more years? At 31 he'll be close to retirement when Brazil 2014 comes around. He'll probably (but, I hope not) go the same way as Beckham, in that, his body will just give out. He'll be more suited to a coaching role at that stage, but if Moore has one more World Cup in him after surviving cancer then maybe Harry does too.

Oh, no. Boo hoo.

Seriously, he's a pro athlete. They only want to win. If they don't win they don't care who else gets the glory. He's now focused on different things (like the World Cup maybe?)

Sure he could've acted a bit more interested but don't you think he'd probably been told and asked a thousand things that day that he wasn't particularly interested in. Surely we can give guys like HK a bit of a break every once in a while.

His been on a break for 5 months. He might not be interested in the winner but he always talks positive about Galatasaray and thats all that matters.

Im sure Harry cares a lot but he was there to Promote Politix and also he's been promoting the world cup from what i've heard, also he needs to say positive so he can be fit.

And although i think its nuts i admire him for saying "we can win the World cup" he's a True Aussie hero.

would chuck him in there as 5th striker in brazil, because he'd be better than any a-leaguers or low european leaguers even in his older years

Having watched him break down time and again I don't know that his body could withstand another 4 years of football at the highest level.

If we have better options than Harry sure we'll take others but I can definitely see HK as a genuine contributor in 2014 (if a few things go his way).

Firstly he'll need to stay relatively injury free for the next four years (huge if considering his body). Secondly he'll also probably have to change the role he plays in the Socceroos as the years go on. He's not going to get any quicker (most likely slower) so will probably become more of an impact player who plays through the middle rather than out wide.

But in the end he's the best player we've produced in the last 20 years (if ever) and no one in the next generation is even close to his ability (at least at the moment). If Australia reaches 2014 a fit, wily veteran like Kewell would be incredibly handy at a World Cup. He'll have been to two prior, know what's going on and you know his talent won't have gone away. Could very easily hit the decisive pass or score the winning goal at 35.

Well this comment sets him up for an a-league return anyway. I hope he kicks on but I also hope that in four years time we have better options than an ageing star who has seen better days

I think Harry will be returning to England as his family is still in England, with three young children. I wasn't aware of that but now I know, I realise how difficult that would be and what a tough situation Harry is in. Certainly I would expect that to have an impact on what club he chooses to play for in the future. It might increase the liklihood of him returning to Australia or it could rule it out.

Just on the interview, 60 Minutes has really gone to shit over the last decade but that story and the truly candid footage of Harry's actual operation in Sydney and even just getting some idea of his training and lifestyle in Istanbul... it was outstanding. Maybe that's why Harry's been so cagey of the past few weeks, because he knew all would be revealed on 60 Minutes. Maybe that was part of the deal, along with a plug for Politix.

Whether Harry will be 100% for the World Cup I don't know. He looked good in training, but we didn't see enough to tell whether his movement is still somewhat limited and whether his kicking action is restricted. Maybe the damage is permanent and he may never be the same Harry he used to be. But what I do know and should never doubt is that he has a good trainer, his head is in the right place and he's as hungry and determined as ever to be leading Australia's charge that the World Cup. He will be there and he'll be one of our best.

Sunrise interviewed him this morning and he mentioned his kids love oZ and his misus doesn't mind it.

If he did come back at 35 /36 for 2014 I acually think he would still be a chance depending on our set up. Wouldn't have to be a starter could be an impact player but he will likely play a more central role if picked up by an a league club (a bit like Dwight yorkes perhaps).

As long as his body stays strong but it will be a massive risk. As it is he is injured but as much as I want it to happen I doubt it.

In the NBA my team the Phoenix suns have a 38 year old player called grant hill. One of the best when he was young however he was crippled by injurys. Now though his injury problems are gone and hes playing some of his best basketball. Sometimes extended injurys mean your body is less worn and so another 4 years for Kewell is possible. I just hope he doesn't go to England where the workload would likely be too much for him.

Would be great. However, doubt his body would last that long.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Kewell Not Ruling Out 2014 World Cup?
SOCCEROOS star Harry Kewell is refusing to rule out the possibility that he could still be around to enjoy a tilt at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Have your say.
