Surely part of the idea of getting some big name foreign coach is to get someone with a winning history who knows what he's doing, not someone who knows how to get a team ready to take a hammering!

I thought you said Le Guen was a master tactician with vast European success because he won a few titles? Seems like everyone in this thread disagrees with your piss poor and uneducated input

Fact is, this guy is a failure and while he would be better than nothing(ie, appointing GA as manager again) but hes no where near the best choice to take us to 2014

Maybe Lowey should talk to David Traktovenko. He seems to know a thing or two about finding quality coaches! Who knew who Vitja was before his appointment at Sydney? But he's been absolutely brilliant! Maybe he's got some other contacts there that could be brilliant for the Socceroos job!

How long before we need a coach in place for the next serious match eg. asian qualifiers. Is it September or there abouts? The new coach must have some respect for the A-league and understands where football sits and where we want it to sit in the sporting minds of people in this country too.

I think we have a friendly before then as well. But I am sure the new coach, whoever it is ,will organise some more games leading into the Asian Cup. But nothing has been locked in yet as far as I am aware. Most players will come back from the cup and have a holiday before the European club season starts, so I dont expect much until later in the year.

I'm stunned that the FFA can even consider a non-Dutch, or at least Dutch-educated, coach. It seems rediculous that we've established a Dutch mentality at the top with consecutive national coaches, and a Dutch coaching system at the AIS with Dutch coaches, and that we would then turn around and go in a different direction. The FFA's "long term planning" in developing youth is completely pointless if the playing mentality doesn't go from top to bottom.

And as I said on another thread - the FFA are making the decisions at Fury and Adelaide - it seems dumb that they wouldn't bring in Dutch coaches there too (hopefully the Fury coach has a 'Dutch' philosophy) - and that when they were in charge of Perth a few years back they opted to hire Mitchell, rather than easing in the new 'Dutch' age at A-League level when they had the chance. For me, the only positive from the FFA having control of A-league sides is the opportunity it gives them to create an uniform playing culture through the top level of the game here. And if they go for Le Guen, they ain't doing that.

Paul Le Guen would be a big mistake, his Record at Rangers was awful and he managed to alienate pretty much the whole squad.

Im not going to argue with you but if you actually read what i said the other day (assuming you can read COYS) you would see 'i think he is the best candiate' we have atm which i said before. I also said he 'wasnt the best man for the job' did i not? However i said that we didnt have anyone better in the line the lesser of two evils i guess you could say.

So i didnt change my tone matter of fact i've been saying wat everyone has been saying all along.

I think this guy would do a much better job then Herbert, another Verbeek or a coach that i currently unable to get a job? dont you?

Also, i've been saying i think the FFA should try get Marcelo Bielsa the current coach of Chile who imo knows how to up bring a young squad and plays attacking football.

please read my comments before you slander my name, then use your brain (assuming you have one) to process what im saying if you did that im sure you will see what i say mkes sence.

Cheers Mate =) maybe one day you will be right COYS...maybe...

I agree. I really hope the hype is all coming from Le Guen and not the FFA. I've already said there are far better options out there.

wat do u not hope ?

Well fair enough you pull me up on this, given my clear lack of reasoning, but I reasoned about it at length in another article about it and I feel since my post a few have covered in a little more detail, just a few reasons atleast why he would not be the best candidate, let alone best appointment for our NT job.

Then again, maybe I misunderstand your question - 'wat do u not hope ?' Well I suppose it's clear, if you read the article, as to what I and others, like those I quoted above, hope is not the case... hope it will not happen... rather hope not... please don't happen... we beg the FFA for this not to happen... we wish for this not to happen... etc... Get the gist? Or, gist u get not? :D
