Starting to think that Germany and Ghana organised a go-slow in their game to preserve themselves.

Agreed though that Africa has much more depth than Asia. I think the problem with the African teams this WC is the European coaches. They may have them a bit more organised, but they have also coached the African-ness out of the Africans!! Dont like it.
Edited by villaboy: 27/6/2010 11:24:25 PM Having said that, I do believe that the best club teams in Asia, would beat the best club teams in Africa. But that is only because the best African players are playing club football in Europe, while a lot of the top Asian players are playing in Asia.

Ghana may not have looked the most beautiful footballing team in the world cup so far but as Africa's last hope, the entire country is supporting. At least the black community that is, the white SA's have completely switched off now and only care about Rugby. I was in a bar yesterday trying to watch the Korea v Uruguay game along with all the other foreigners. Every TV and sound bar one small TV above the cash register in a drafty foyer area was playing the freaking Bok v italy Rugby game. All the good (and warm) spots in Cape Town were taken up by local whites while the outdoor (it was freakin cold and windy) TV's played the Cup. After the game people (Black people) hit the streets and WOW!! What a party. it continued way into the night. I for one am hoping for more of that and therefore Ghana have become my second team. CMon Black Stars. Do it for Africa!!

^^^i agree with what ur saying, i'll be the first to admit that not 1 ghanaian i know rates this serb dud of a coach, he has not once started with his strongest 11 or had his strongest 11 on the pitch at one time the whole tournament, it's actually starting to piss me off, come to think of it everytime we are getting pressed for periods of the match and the camera is thrown on him, the look on his face just reminds me of pim's when the socceroos are in trouble, they should team up..i think the african coaches should go with south american coaches, in order to display their full array of talents in a technical sense & not look like robots playing to a defensive and conservative system

thank you liverpool...i'm a supporter of the socceroos but to say ghana aren't a good side & asia is stronger than africa your having a laugh davstar, ghana were unlucky to lose to germany if anything and lost due to an absolute peach of a goal. All in all keep ur uninformed opinions to yourself!!! i'd also like to know why all you guys are hating on the ghanaians? exactly what did they do to the socceroos failure to qualify for the next round?? all they did is show up, play 3 tactical matches and were rewarded with qualification through to the round of 16....dont be hating on a country/squad that deserves to be where they are today

Of course it will still sting, and so it should. In all honesty, I am still not 100% over the 2010 A-League Grand Final. But by the time Round 1 comes along, it will all be forgotten. Of course you can't compare A-League to the World Cup, but you get what I mean yeah?

We coulda been contenders :sigh: Australia are out, no point pondering what could of been.

USA are great on the counter and have very fast attack minded players but unforunately not putting away their chances cost them the game. Im glad to see the united states out of the competition. Ghana finally put on their scoring boots and given africa a bit of pride. they'll need to keep those scoring boots on against uruguay or else they'll be bundled out long before the first half is over.

To see Ghana go further than the quarters could not be justified, however now they are scoring from open play anything is possible.
They could have paid more heavily than conceding one goal when they sat back for half of the game. USA were unlucky as the calls seemed to favour Ghana for much of the first half of the game.
I dont know why anyone would consider Ghana as the top African team, Egypt and Ivory Coast are definately better sides. It is a real shame not to have seen Egypt at the finals due to a mixture of mistreatment by Algerians of the Egyptian people over the course of qualifying, and a bad run of Injuries.
Ghana need to regroup and focus on Uruguay now, Ghana lost a few players due to yellow cards. I cant see them beating Uruguay who will hit the deck at every possible opportunity and frustrate the hell out of them.
Suarez, although scoring both of the goals, could have helped his team to a 4-1 win if he had only passed the ball a lot more at the last moment instead of stealing the glory all for himself, this could be Uruguay's downfall in their game against Ghana, both teams are similar as they'll score (if they score) and then sit back and counter attack.
Hopefully there'll be a change of tactics allowing more free flowing football.

Daniel1991 - i agree with being neutral i defintatly im not, im bias towards Australia i think if USA can take off in football it will benefit Aus. We tend to copy the yanks alot.

Good call Daniel 1991 - Football is a great leveler of nations and it is good for the USA to be put back in their place a bit after overachieving at the confed cup. I wanted the yanks to do well they are one of the few teams that wanted to play us in the pre-season they dont dive and they play attractive football.
