Damiao is clearly not worth the 30mil+ Internacional want for him, nobody is going to pay that ever.

No point splashing cash if its not going to being an upgrade on what we already have. Giroud scored as many goals as Traore in far better competitions. Robinho- Barely even plays anymore, can not lead the line by himself. Again, we're not in for a shadow striker. Gomis- Scored 1 more goal in an inferior league. Giroud was far greater in Ligue 1 than Gomis will ever be. Lamela- See Robinho Damiao would be the only one who would be an improvement, but I dont realistically see us splashing the cash. Has the potential to be an amazing player. Pretty sure Napoli have had bids rejected for him, and the president wanted them to pay his release clause which was around 50m euros iirc. Quote:“In my opinion, it’s necessary for the club to recruit another striker. “Obviously, I think about it a little bit. It may change the play one day, especially if it’s a high profile signing. “It’s useless lamenting this though. I know what I have to do and what I’m capable of. I’m focusing on me and my work. The coach is counting on me, so I don’t think too much.” Positive stuff from Giroud. Glad to see he wants some competition. Think he has a big season ahead of him if he is our main striker, is looking better already.

League level is irrelevant. If he's good enough, he's good enough. Did you dismiss the level that Vermaelen, Oxlade or Jenkinson were playing at when Arsenal signed them? Both Damiao and Michu have been quoted at a 27m pound asking price (31m Euro).

There is a massive difference between playing as a second striker and leading the line in one of the most physical leagues in the world. I agree that he would be a good signing, but for one of the wing position's not upfront. There are far better options than Cardozo, there's a reason why he's being linked to West Ham and Cardiff and not any other better clubs. Would take Giroud over him any day of the week. Damiao at 30m could be a steal, but there is always a risk with Brazilian players. I think if we're going to bring anyone out of this list in it will be Michu, who will add good competition for Giroud, but still I'd rather us wait until a proper out and out striker becomes available again. Pissing around with Suarez cost us Higuain, I dont want us to splash the cash just for the sake of it.

Forget by the end of the window, we need a CB by this Saturday or we're looking at Daniel Boateng next to Per  Michu imo would be the perfect forward signing because he can fill 2 roles, both upfront and playing off Giroud.

Some reports that Michu would be available for 25m pounds. I say we go there with 35-40 and get Ashley Williams while we're at it.

Alone, Williams' asking price is a reported 12m and Michu is 27. But you're taking two of that team's key players in one transaction to a team in the same division, any chairman worth his salt is going to add another 10% on top, so you're talking about 43m.

Cabaye + one of Kondogbia/Grenier/Pogba would make sense if it happened. Bring a settled PL player in who will do a job straight away and another player with a look to the future.

There's one constant theme with all these reported bids and who we're apparently interested in. All of them, Cabaye, Michu and Williams, are all proven PL players who can come in and do a job straight away without the settling in period into a new league.

Hopefully we end up with one or more of the players linked to us . We still need a experienced keeper , scz is great but he needs to be a little less up himself

Sky Sports wrote:Arsenal fans turn on Wenger A group of disgruntled Arsenal fans have told the club's board that it would be 'inappropriate' to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract.
Wenger's current contract expires at the end of the season but the Arsenal Supporters Trust (AST) wants any talks to be put on hold.
Fans are furious with the Frenchman's recruitment policy and called for investment throughout the disappointing 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa in their Premier League opener on Saturday.
French forward Yaya Sanogo is the only signing of the summer despite the board's assurances that they have money to spend and will compete financially with the top clubs.
"In recent weeks (chief executive) Ivan Gazidis has spoken of the club's intent to offer Arsene Wenger a new contract. The AST believes this is inappropriate," the group, who own a handful of shares in the club, said in a statement on Sunday.
"There remain important questions about the way player identification, recruitment and remuneration processes are managed at Arsenal.
"The failings we highlighted in Arsene Wenger holding too much power have only been amplified in recent weeks. These must be addressed as a matter of urgency.
"For several transfer windows now, Arsenal have not used all the resources available to strengthen the team.
"A decision on whether to offer an extension to the manager's contract which ends in May 2014 should only be taken following the closing of the transfer window and assessment of the team's performance in the weeks ahead.
"Considerable improvement must be shown for us to be convinced this should happen."
