Apparently we're looking at isco for £45 mil. Would really make our forward up there with the best in the world but I'd rather us spend some money on defenders. With a competent defense we would probably be top of the league right now. Plus we have coutinho already at AM, who will only get better.

This was going to be a test and a game again we normally struggle but not this season it seems. Got up to watch the 2nd half and was really happy of our performance in general - our backline from memory didn't make the errors of late handled them well but our forard transitions were as strong as ever, many chances squandered should have been 5nil. Great timing by BR bringing Raheem on to score a beauty from good build up play the kid is improving every game, with the players around him he must be loving it ! I expect citeh to gain 2nd on the ladder by wednesday but who cares 3rd is noice ! :d Thankyou Stoke :p

Definitely didn't see that coming
After the 1-0 they were all over us but we held out (with a bit of luck)
Second half was much better and the defence didn't look so shaky.
Up to 2nd now. Trying not to get carried away but those home games to Citeh, Spurs and Chelsea are big. Win those and who knows.
If we can go and win at OT the belief will rise even higher. Especially if Chelsea drop points v Spurs.

yer I have seen some 1st half highlights - some luck for sure but thats for all every game, eventhe 2nd we had some scares by their counters luckily a foot got to ball in time a few times  Agree hold back the expectations form changes to game by game for all as results prove once again, I am over the moon 4th by season end as said before anything higher bonus. When is Sakho due back ? Edited by M.L.: 2/3/2014 07:10:13 PM

Back in full training, as is Lucas. I'd expect both in the squad v Man Utd.

Huge couple of weeks coming up. The pressure's on Chelsea to keep the results up so that bodes well for us if everyone's watching them.
Everyone's been talking about City banging in the goals but nobody's said much about Liverpool being top scorer.

Varane is quite overrated by the spanish press. He'd cost way more than he's worth. It's a shame that Chelsea snapped up Zouma.

Fair enough, I don't know too much about him other than what i've heard. I think we are fortunate that our cb's are highly rated that we will be able to trade Agger or skertl + some coin and get a suitable for partner Sakho (who that god is back from injury). Edited by tbitm: 10/3/2014 08:47:20 PM I like Agger and I think he should stay at the club. When he's fit he's one of the best defenders in England, maybe even Europe. I think Lovren and Papadopoulos are the guys to go for in the summer.

jlm8695 wrote:Vertonghen> Lovren though. I rate Lovren over Vertonghen personally and the stats agree with me: Lovren has 22 games for 47 tackles won, 59 interceptions and 183 clearances. He's been beaten just 11 times. Vertonghen has 20 games for 30 tackles won and 38 interceptions with 90 clearances and has been beaten 14 times. Lovren is also playing in an inferior team. Not to mention he's 2 years younger, which fits Rodgers' MO better.

Jan makes one mistake and everyone says he's shit  one week ago you would be saying that Vertonghen is miles better. He may of been a bit inconsistent so far this season, but he is still a very talented football. You chuck all the stats at me you want but there are some things that stats can't tell you.

We already have Sakho and Agger as left footed CBs/LCBs. We certainly don't need another
Lovren/Sakho would be a great partnership.

Lovren/Sakho would be a great partnership. What does his preferred foot have to do with anything? Most of the best centre back partnerships are same foot pairings. I never understood the whole no two lefties thing. Edited by jlm8695: 12/3/2014 05:51:12 AM

I never understood the whole no two lefties thing. This. No one will say anything if you have two right footed CB's. It's less to do with preferred foot and more to do with the fact that left footed CBs will have almost always played as a LCB coming through the academy, forever in their footballing lives. Agger sucks as a RCB because he's never played that side and it changes your positional sense, everything. Bringing in Vertonghen would mean moving someone across to a side that they aren't used to. A right footed CB would have played either side because it's more common to have two right footed CBs, but left footed CBs would have always played LCB growing up. Just my opinion.

I'm not saying Lovren is better because of the stats. I already believed Lovren was a better footballer and the stats happen to support that. I'm also inclined to agree with imno. Put Agger at LCB and he performs vastly better than at RCB.
