10 hours to go! A win here and anything is possible, esecially with the two cames we have after United. Although Cardiff and Sunderland will be pushing hard for survival.

Starting to get nervous now. This really is a must win game with Chelsea dropping points.

Great performance by the lads. Pity Stevie G missed that penalty but that will really have hurt United.
Back to 4 points in the title race...do we dare to dream?

Not the first time Sturridge has dived either this season. Needs to cut it out ASAP.
This title race could be the closest in years.

You guys are lucky I was in transit to Shanghai last night therefore couldn't watch but once landed kept checking the live score feed via the mobile. This was one game at this time of the season I really wished for us to win and my was I tickled pink watching the scores at hand. I can't comment without seeing the game but the result is booooyeah take that

Lovren/Sakho would be a great partnership. What does his preferred foot have to do with anything? Most of the best centre back partnerships are same foot pairings. I never understood the whole no two lefties thing. This. No one will say anything if you have two right footed CB's. It's less to do with preferred foot and more to do with the fact that left footed CBs will have almost always played as a LCB coming through the academy, forever in their footballing lives. Agger sucks as a RCB because he's never played that side and it changes your positional sense, everything. Bringing in Vertonghen would mean moving someone across to a side that they aren't used to. A right footed CB would have played either side because it's more common to have two right footed CBs, but left footed CBs would have always played LCB growing up. Just my opinion. Never really bought into the RCB/LCB thing. To me, it's more to do with who your RB and LB are. Some CBs respond better when their wide back stays more defensive, others when their wide back pushes forward more. It's all about familiarisation with the backline as a whole, rather than just "Agger is better at LCB" IMO. Edited by pv4: 17/3/2014 02:03:11 PM

The best thing about Liverpool's performance this morning was the arrogance with which they carried it out. This is a trait that's been evident many times this season and I believe is giving us the best chance since 1990 at winning the title. Even in 2008/09 under Rafa, where it looked like they were true contenders, I'd be confident of getting a result against the top teams- home or away- but playing teams like Fulham or Stoke always concerned me because there was a tendency to go off the boil and either scrape out a 1-0 win or settle for a disappointing draw. It showed in the final standings that season, they lost only twice all season (to Spurs and Middlesborough, if I recall) yet had a shitload of draws that saw their points go down the gurgler. This time around and there's so much goal scoring ability in the side that even if Sturridge and/ or Suarez are out, there are still players like Raheem or Stevie G firing away. It doesn't matter who the opposition is or where they are playing, I'm confident of seeing at least two Liverpool goals and this factors in the final result. Hopefully BR can keep the nucleus of this squad around for a few more years at least! Edited by Captain Haddock: 17/3/2014 03:24:08 PM
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

What's amazing is we didn't even play at our best and we beat united away 3-0. Don't know if that says more about us or united right now tbh.
MOTM has to go to Gerrard, not only for the first 2 unsavable pens, but the passion he played with too. The amount of times he put him body on the line to win headers and tackles is something inspiring and it just shows how much this particular fixture means to him.
Onwards and upwards, it'll feel weird going for United in the manc derby, but if they can take away any points from that the title is ours to lose. What I mean is, if that happens and we win every game for the rest of the season, we're lifting the PL title.
Until then of course, it's City's to lose.

Quote:What's amazing is we didn't even play at our best and we beat united away 3-0. Don't know if that says more about us or united right now tbh. I think it says more about United's flacid performance. A couple of half chances for RVP was all they got out of the game. That's our 5th win in a row in the League and with Cardiff, Sunderland and Spurs waiting for our next three games there's no reason why that should end. City have Villa and then trips to United and Arsenal for their next three games and Arsenal travel to Chelsea this weekend. There's points galore that could be dropped there.

Spurs to win at Anfield on the back of (probably) 4 straight defeats (Chelsea, Benfica, Arsenal, Benfica)...... good luck.

We're in a great position. But we've got a notorious history with capitulating in this position. All the old cliches about continuing to win and making the most of that game in hand ring true. Right now we've just got to take it one game at a time, get the win against Cardiff and then regroup. It's a pity that City are out of Europe so don't have that distraction, but we're fortunate to have them playing us at Anfield still to come so there's a 6 point game right there. We're also waiting on Lucas to return us to full strength. Lots of reasons to be excited.

Yep well out of the coming 9 games 5 are at home - mishap injuries to key players is the only concern in the back of my mind but I'm believing the top 4 place is now there for us to hold and I'm sure the squad have the confidence to carry this through now - to me making the 4 is a huge step back for us mentally and the extra funds this brings anything above in the PL will be a bonus - that last win has already made part of the season taste sweet putting a sword through them convincingly and how fitting it was SG picking up the brace and one of his best games ! :d We can dream but we also are blowing caution to the wind - we have been so close before hold onto your seats it going to be a ride we won't forget I'm sure !

Gerrard and all the players are behind Rodgers. He's got the belief in the players and Gerrard has said it's an entirely different environment around the club to previous years. It's a massively positive thing for such an old hat to be so effusive in praise and excited.
But I still can't shake that feeling in my gut of "typical of the club, they're going to drop points in some ridiculous fashion" - like a 93rd minute Martin Skrtel OG or something.

Have. To. Win. The next two games. Absolutely no room to slip up. Come out, fuck shit up and get 6 points. At least two of the teams around us WILL drop points in that period.

I was about to say, I hope it's just the warm fuzzy feeling all Liverpool fans have at the moment. If he is going down as a legend, that'll do me.

Well it was never going to be easy and what a way to start within 5min SG gains a yellow just out of our box, our touch was woeful, passing was woeful then we set up a cracker 1st goal to recover 1-1. Cardiff we always going to be a tuff gig due to their table scenario but we were our own enemies #-o I went to bed by HT failing alseep and not feeling confident  Thank fuck seeing 6 - 3 once up - leaking again a worry but as said elsewhere we keep scoring more - bloody relief !

At 1-2 I thought the best we would do was draw.
Thankfully got in at HT level, BR reassessed and then we came out and crushed them.
Suarez just needs 4 goals from last 8 games to break Cron/Shearer's goal record in a 38 game season. Needs 7 in 8 to beat the all time record (42 game season)
I think he can do the first one at least.
What an amazing strike partnership we have. Thank fuck we can score goals because we sure as hell can't defend
Will be cheering for United in the Manc derby. Hate myself for it but I have to. Can see them getting trounced though.

We still have Norwich, who Suarez has made his bitch every time we play them. I believe he'll be the new record holder.
We also have a good chance to break the record of most goals in one season being Chelsea at 103. Currently on 82. 22 goals in 8 games is child's play with what we have up front.
Also don't think of it as supporting united, think of it more as supporting citeh to lose  that might help with the bad taste in your mouth after saying what you said.
