BusbyBabe wrote:Still can't get my head around 14m. I am guessing he joined for around 10m? A bit less?
How on earth can a club watch him (and closely as he was with that club) and determine he is worth more now, than what LIverpool paid for him. He has proved an extremely disappointing signing, the 14m has to be a mistake, has to be.
It would be amazing for Liverpool if Sunderland somehow went through with it. I agree. No other club would be willing to pay that money for him, but from their point of view, he came in last year, played well, scored 10 goals, helped them stay up. The manager likes him, I can see how it's a 'safe' signing from their point of view. He's in the USA and by all accounts doesn't want to leave though... I'd be sad to miss out on the cash tbph so hopefully it gets through. Remy is flying to Boston to do his medical (from Guardian/Times/Echo, so hopefully on the money) and Lovren will be done in the next few days. That's good. Just need a LB and another attacking player after that and I'm happy. Suso and Ibe have looked excellent in pre-season and I hope they are both involved in the first team. Ibe is too good to be loaned out again. I think he can do exactly what Sterling did. I think we're looking at a backup GK too - Neto's name has been thrown around. Can't say I've ever seen him play tbh

Borini is a known quantity for them and as imno mentions his net deposits was a big part in saving them but we are just making $14m sound right for him  Imno - re our 1st trail - admittedly 1st game and a very made up team of ressies etc it was a shocking game #-o I couldn't watch it all tbh. The US tour now will certainly lift matters considering who we are playing and more use of regulars mixed with possibles more and more.

Yeah I nearly went to sleep watching the Preston game.
Looks like Davies is going to Spurs so time for a new LB target. Unless Sevilla lower the price for Moreno.
Otherwise Rojo maybe?

Gerrard retiring from NT duty is good for us.
Remy looks to be in the bag, flying to do his medical tomorrow and terms are already agreed. So that's a plus.
Sounds like Borini is digging his heels, his agent came out with some pretty strong words that he doesn't want to leave.
Would leave us with Sturridge, Remy, Lambert and Borini as ST options which isn't too much I guess.
Not counting Origi because I'm pretty sure he's going straight back to Lille. Think that one, Lovren and Remy will all be done by Friday.

Going to either have a couple of pissed off strikers depending on how we play (lack of game time) or they are going to have to get used to BR's "rotating 3" up front. If so you'll have Sturridge, Remy, Lambert, Borini, Sterling, Markovic, Suso, battling for 3 spots. Could even play Coutinho/Lallana play up there if need be. Potentially 9 players battling for 3 spots each week. Good, healthy competition will keep them all on their toes. I like it. I just feel from here on it, need to strengthen our defence, get another good young keeper and no more attacking players unless they are outright superstars.

Strong rumours we might get 21yo U.S left back DeAndre Yedlin from Seattle sounders. He was great against for us against belgium during the World Cup where he held Hazard off for the most part.
He's the definition of a wing back and I'm sure would fit well in BR's system. He's very quick, can get up the field, take on a player and mostly looks for the ground pass instead of the cross in the box. Problem is he's short and not proven at EPL level over a sustained period. Outside a few World Cup games and concacaf champions league games, mls is the level he's even playing at so it would be quite a step up.

Maybe thinking competition / replacement for Johnson and Jose / Flanno for LB.

Maybe thinking competition / replacement for Johnson and Jose / Flanno for LB. sorry he is a rb, but as a fullback he could probably play on both sides. He wouldn't be bad to buy now and loan him out. I think his value will go up

Not one shot on target.
That baseball stadium for football is actually worse than Etihad for a ACL match

I'm not sure how I feel about Borini. He's a top bloke by all accounts but I'm not sure he's any benefit to the club. He hasn't performed for us and while he did ok for Sunderland he's not our level of player. I'd rather have Remy - well, Ideally I'd rather have neither and we were aiming higher but I don't think that's an option right now.
There were rumours going around that Reus was close to signing. That would be a hell of a move by Ayre & Co. to pull that one off.
We really need to wrap up this Lovren deal though.

The rumours of his impending arrival were gathering momentum last weekend but it's died off this week.

Cheers.
Lovren signing confirmed which is good.
However problems with Remy's medical means the deal is off.
Wonder who we'll go for now.

As if Remy wont speak up if we agree fee, agree personal terms and then just decide, naaaah. Borini not wanting to go was before Remy even flew out to meet us in Boston. Why would we have let it get that far if it was the issue.
