Read on the weekend that the Shaqiri deal is close to being done. They rejected our first offer, but second offer has been tabled and we're getting closer to an agreement. He will be our best signing of the summer if it goes through :)

How much that will prevent the deal going through, particularly if Liverpool offer irresistible wages, I don't know.

This Remy deal is interesting. As far as I knew he wasn't currently injured which means it would have to be some pre existing condition that really worried Liverpool. Could be the possible heart defect that they found while he was at Marseille.

He's failed 3-4 medicals because of the heart issue, it might not ever actually effect him but clubs don't want to take that risk.

Yeah, but as jlm said could be that Liverpool didn't want to take the risk. That is of course if it was the heart stuff that's caused the breakdown.

Interesting to see where it ends up, had apparently put aside the number 7 shirt for him.

Remy has failed physicals for a whole bunch of teams. QPR were heavily criticized for going on to sign him after he failed physicals for Lazio and Lyon.
I think it's a good thing that Liverpool have pulled out of this one after their history of signing players with pre-existing injury issues like Carroll and Aquilani.

Agree - where there's smoke there's fire, even though watching Fox the other day there was Arry questioning the knock back and looking baffled, he wanted the $$$$$ Mentioning Carrol - isn't it ironic that he's out again for months  thank f uck we offloaded him a season back ending up a hammer

Thank god for that.
Great servant, loved him in his peak but had to get his wages off the books.
Lets wait until confirmation though, don't want another Borini

Barcelona, and the Madrids have their keeper spots sorted. Manquillo confirmed on a 2 year loan with an option to buy. Hope it means Johnson is off and Flanagan can be promoted to first choice RB Exactly he should have taken a wage cut and gone to Napoli. He obviously cares more about money than playing football.

Well at his age he does have to look ahead but even saying that at 31 he's got quite a few years left. Shame being a bench warmer imo. Yes Redkat agree, I'd love someone taking Johnson's place.

I just assumed there was some kind of rule preventing you from just upfront loaning a guy for more than a season. Edited by pv4: 7/8/2014 09:18:08 AM

We had Tevez on loan from West Ham for 2 seasons.

Edited by pv4: 7/8/2014 09:18:08 AM By rules you can only loan a player for 1 season, but the clubs have a contract in place to renew the loan after 12 months. It's becoming slowly more common. I'm surprised Atleti didn't cash in on Juanfran and keep Manquillo. The lad played some decent football when he was in the team. Looking forward to seeing what he can do. Johnson will be kept around for another season, but he has so much competition at RB now - Kelly, Manquillo and Flanno...

Lavezzi is 29 and would be on bigish wages. Would be a great signing but not one I see your owners sanctioning (or Rodgers wanting).

Wasn't the thought behind Falcao's move to Monaco at the time that it would be the club that bridged his move from Atletico to Real?
