Parramatta Eagles 1 - 2 Sydney Olympic FC

Sydney Olympic has started the season with a win against Parramatta Eagles at a game where we saw our favorite ‘blues’ losing at 1st half 1-0 and turning around the game in the 2nd half to finish the game with a 1-2 win.

Two goals to Chris Triantis one from a penalty and one from a free kick both in the second half made up the final score. Chris Triantis also missed a penalty for Sydney Olympic.

Many of our new and old players played in this game and our coaching staff had the chance to try out various formations using not only his first grade players but also some of the Under 20s players in the 2nd half.

First half finished 0-0 the boys came out very strong and in the first 20 minutes Sydney Olympic was pressuring Parramatta with ball procession being 80-20 for Olympic. During the first 20 minutes of the game we had two big opportunities with Mileski and Smith but they both just missed. For the remaining of the 1st half Parramatta balanced out the game and both teams had some opportunities but the Olympic goalkeeper did not feel much pressure as the defense was working well.

In the 2nd half a few changes were made by the coach, as Bill Darwich came on for Luksic and played very well of rte remaining of the game, Bill Tsanidis came in for Tibbets and also had a good run and Makrys came off for a new player that was trialing for our Club.

Will Angel came on to and played the second 45 and did well, with youngsters Stephen Ilic and Zac Elrich also given a go and they both impressed the crowd.

The coaching staff were happy with the effort from the players and made some important notes about various details that they need to work on. Being only the first trial game of the season and with 6 weeks till the 2011 Premier League commences it was a very promising game for Sydney Olympic.

In the under 20s game before the main game, Sydney Olympic won 3-1 and also showed some class and a promising future for our reserve grade team.

Next trial game is next weekend against Sydney United, with details to be announced on our website shortly.
