The HQSL is underway with some entertaining games and rivalry between clubs.Sunshine Coast Fire and The Whitsunday Miners had a big hoo ha on the week-end when the referee apparently extended the game to 94 minutes and then awarded the Fire a penalty to draw the game. the Miners coach was furious. The Fire have won the last couple of seasons and it seems the referees have leaned towards them in pressure games.Successful teams do tend to earn more respect from the referees. The Bulls are looking good but seem to be having trouble fielding a solid squad for the full 90 minutes.Tokesi's challenge is to be able to keep his strongest team on the field. The Razorbacks are rebuilding and are not the calibre of team they were in previous years but enthusiasm goes a long way to make them possible top four contenders. This year the Fire and Strikers won't have it all their own way.

What are crowd like in this league and in the Brisbane one.

State League crowds in regional areas tend to be higher. The average crowd in the BPL is probably less than 200 across the board, but then again the Strikers can hardly claim they get too much more than the likes of Wolves and Rochedale (up to 500 on a good day).

However when you compare the media coverage of the two, the BPL is unbelievably good at the moment - and its starting to have a positive impact on the game in Brisbane. Hopefully the QSL can become a bit more stable and start to work out a way to get a bigger profile in the media, particularly here in BPL dominated Brisbane.
