Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton admits he plans to end his career in his native Australia.

Sydney FC have been linked with a move for Emerton and the Australia international has hinted many of the Socceroos' older guard could well be coming home soon.

The 32-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Ewood Park and Emerton has revealed he is weighing up his future.

"We're all coming to that stage of our career where it's a possibility in the next few years," noted Emerton.

"I've made no secret in the past that I'd love to come back and finish my career in Australia. When the time will be right, I'm not sure yet. We'll have to wait and see."
