NOTHING seems to stand in the way of Cameroon international Calvin Mbarga earning an A-League contract except talent spotters' opinions.

After scoring his 14th goal in as many matches Mbarga has been one of the super revelations of the Super League.

The burly striker scored two early goals in a 2-0 win for Western Strikers over White City.

His double in the quarter finals of the Federation Cup at Carnegie Reserve on Saturday is bound keep scouts on high alert.

Mbarga said he played for Cameroon at under 21 level before arriving n Australia with Adelaide-based wife Kim in the hope of snaring an A-League contract this year.

He also had a stint in Dubai before heading Down Under.

``An aim of mine is to play A-League,'' he told 5RTI-531 am.

``At this point nothing has come about yet but I'm confident and I believe in my ability.''

While Mbarga extinguished the Warriors dreams of hoisting the trophy for the first time since 2005, his side moved closer to snaring its first Federation Cup silverware.

In other matches, MetroStars smacked fellow Super Leaguer Croydon 7-0 in a one-sided match which embarrassed the club at Polonia Park.

To make matters worse for Croydon, MetroStars coach David Terminello who only makes playing appearances during the Cup competition scored.

A double from Francesco Monterosso and single goals from Michael Matricciani, Ivan Karlovic, Scott Tunbridge and James Yong completed the rout.

Reigning cup champion Blue Eagles scrambled past Salisbury 2-1 and was made to sweat for a final four berth at Steve Jarvis Park.

After taking a comfortable first-half lead with goals from Kym Harris and Chris Annicchiarico, Salisbury's Aaron Taye made the Azzurri's nerves jangle with a goal which flew over the head of keeper Lucas Andreucci.

Blue Eagles almost paid the price for missing a hat full of chances when defender Dean Kenrick was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.

Although Salisbury had the numbers on the park, the 10 men of the Blue Eagles still managed to have shots at the target but without further success.

At Makris Park, Galaxy pipped Raiders 1-0.
