Coerver vs FNSW

My nephew has some natural ability and really stands out at 10 years old in his team.

At the moment he is only playing at his local team but there were people there that told his parents that he should be going for higher level training.

Coerver seems to be more technically driven and is billed as the "elite" program but FNSW seem to be a good option as well.

Any ideas on what is the best option and why??

all i can say to you is after playing, watching and coaching teams for over 20 tears, is that whatever you do don't push the kid to do to much. i have seen countless times including relatives, put the kid into coever,or futsal,or indoor as well as playing in the NSWPL only for the kid to chuck it in around the age of 17-21......because they don't get to do what lots of other kids do on the weekend, so while you need to provide your kid with access to technical training you also have to balance it out that they still enjoy it & it does'nt become a chore and to demanding, also it's really important not to be caught up in the elitism of this sport.....meaning that when you kid get to u18's - u20's don't be scared to drop him a couple of divisions so he can get into a first grade squad and make the transition during the u18's - u20's phase......

to many parent's think my kid HAS to be playing at the top level, it's far better to be playing NSWSL or NSWdivision1 in a first grade squad than it is to be sitting on the bench for a NSWPL side......there is so much to be learnt from some of these older players and coaches, sort of like an apprenticeship, you can read all the book you like (NSWIS,COERVER,SPECIALISED TRAINING)but if you don't get to practice it in a game enviroment it amounts to nothing..................

i remember when we had to get through the 17-21 period, i dropped my son from NSWPL @ blacktown demons, and went back to division 1 blacktown spartans into a first grade squad, the following year to NSWPL @ hajduk and then back to NSWPL in a first grade squad the year after, what amased me were the parent who scoffed at me, told me i was crazy, laughed at me, and now my son is still playing at NSWPL level and all these parent who scoffed at me are all gone from the scene, their kids have pulled the pin and chucked it in..............

good luck with it all...................:d

Thanks for the info

Leaning toward FNSW and see how it goes.

This guy looks like the local coach for FNSW
