I read through this article eagerly anticipating the Aus v Japan world cup game. I believe this was a defining game in Australian history. Speaking to many, and reading many papers, from overseas about our qualification after our victory against Uruguay. They kept speaking about our pot luck as we won on penalties and Uruguay were overconfident and cocky and probably deserved to lose. They were going on about how we would see the real thing against Asian Champs, World Champs and European powerhouse. And we were down one nil against the Japs and we looked like not getting anything back. But we kept going and in the last ten minutes of the game we scored 3 goals and defied all the odds to knock off the Japs and put ourselves ont he map. It was the game that skeptics in Australia heard about all the time and followed the rest of the campaign. I think it was the game that said, and made everyone realise. "Getting to the World Cup was no fluke"

...not sure about our campaign this time though...
