The woman was watching English metal band Bring Me the Horizon perform at Sydney Olympic Park when a magnesium flare was let off by a person in the crowd, the Daily Telegraph reports.
She sustained burns to her forearm and was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.
Police are investigating the incident but the Telegraph reported the flare may have burned plastic which then fell on the woman and burnt her arm.
Other concertgoers near the woman were also hurt.
Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah later voiced his anger about the incident on Twitter, describing the woman as "seriously burned and disfigured."

"Massive awful burn on her forearm. I am devastated for her," he wrote.
The person to let off the flare has not yet been identified and the promoter appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
"If you see anyone with a lit flare please take their photo and tweet to me so I can hand to police," he wrote on Twitter.
A second flare was reportedly let off during the performance of US band Metallica, although no one was believed to have been hurt.
