NEWCASTLE JETS Socceroo Craig Goodwin is on Blackburn Rovers’ transfer window wish list.
It’s understood Rovers wants Goodwin in England after his current commitments with the Socceroos are done.
Goodwin, 21, made his Socceroos debut — about five minutes off the bench — in Australia’s 3-2 loss to Japan in the East Asian Cup in South Korea on Thursday night.
Goodwin is expected to start on Saturday in the Socceroos final East Asian Cup clash against China.
The left-footed player last month initially attracted interest from Rovers’ fellow Championship side Leeds United after impressing in a trial with former Premier League club Reading in April.
Blackburn in the past has been a haven for Socceroos.
Socceroos’ captain Lucas Neill who is currently without a club and Foxtel A-League All Stars skipper Brett Emerton (Sydney FC) both starred at Ewood Park before ending their long stints with the club.
Neill moved to West Ham from Blackburn in 2007 after six years with the club while Emerton joined Sydney from Blackburn two years ago.
Emerton wore a Blackburn shirt for eight years before returning to Sydney.
