Chris Killen could be lining up for the Wellington Phoenix by December. Close sources indicate that he will be seeking a contract release from Chongqing FC at season's end. Chongqing are currently sitting bottom of the table in the Chinese Second Division with 3 games left to be played. While they are only 1 point from safety, Killen is said to still be considering a release even if they avoid the drop to China's Third Division.
Killen, who was born and raised in Wellington, has one year left of his deal with the Chinese club where he is the team's top earner. Any deal for him to return to Wellington is thought to be under a Marquee contract, but talks may stall considering the team's shoe-string budget.
