"Comments" on the Internet- Should they not bother with them?

Of all the worst things out there, youtube comments rank right up there

Granted theres a chance to voice adulation and confirmation of something which is more niche, ie a song by the band Swans (nobody's heard of them- yay! cosmic connection to someone else out there!)

But, if someone goes onto a video which is more general - ie a kanye west video, comments quickly degenerate, and you wonder why you went there in the first place

My personal preference is I have added the chrome extension herp derp, which makes everything said under a video become two words herp and derp, while it has taken away the great comments - eg: kanye west's 'addiction' song is related to Breaking Bad through the thematics engaged through Walt Whitman, it has taken out all those disgusting posts talking about holocaust, spam and everything else normal people wouldnt say IRL!

Anyway... herp derp away herp derpers!
