Can only imagine the hoo-haa if this'd happened at a local soccer match.

SOME 100 people were involved in an all-in brawl after a footy final in Queensland’s southeast on Sunday afternoon.

Police were attempting to arrest a man at North Ipswich Leagues Club on The Terrace about 5pm when a large number of people allegedly attempted to intervene.

It is alleged a male senior-constable was placing the man in a police vehicle when the officer was punched in the face and fell to the ground, hitting his head on the gutter.

It is estimated about 100 men and women - who had been at the grounds to see the grand final match between Norths and Brothers - then became involved in the brawl and more than 20 police officers were called to the scene, armed with OC spray and tasers.

While there is little doubt the length of the season is a factor, the main problem is the game itself. This once overtly brutal sport has been altered to the point that it is now virtually unrecognisable. The changes made have seemingly catered for a politically correct audience that no longer wants plain old aggression from its rugby league games.

this part could be applied to afl as well, my father never watches the sport anymore.
