So I'm one of these people who can sit down and watch those Russian car crash videos for hours, upon hours on end. Have been a subscriber to Dash Cam Owners Australia on YT & FB for a while now and have been watching the Australian Dash Camp compilations they come out with.
Anyway, been thinking about picking up a dash cam or two for myself, Mrs Heineken and some other family members after a few close shaves on the roads recently. Sydney drivers are notoriously fucking shit anyway, and I think it's good to have a camera.
So my query is, do any forumites use dash cams in their vehicles. Could you recommend any?

I would recommend getting one that can provide enough relevant data so that whatever it films is actually helpful if you need to make an insurance claim e.g. GPS, accelerometer, a reasonably wide field of view. basically don't get the cheapest, shittiest one you can find because the video won't help you. I have a Garmin Virb Elite that I'll occasionally use as a dash cam and that seems like it would do the job if I was ever involved in an incident but that hasn't eventuated thus far. I'm sure there's cameras that are actually sold as dash cams that would do a better job but if you're thinking of getting a camera that you can also use for other purposes then it's not a bad option
