Group A = Iran, South Korea, Uzbekistan, China, Qatar, Syria
Group B = Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Thailand

Double match dates in September 2017, October 2017, March 2017 and September 2017
Single match dates in November 2016 and June 2017
The top 2 teams in each group qualify for the World Cup, 3rd placed teams in each group playoff in October 2017 and the winner of the AFC playoff plays off with the 4th placed CONCACAF side in November 2017
