AFLX, the League's high-octane version of the sport, will debut on February 15 next year with the AFL including traditional soccer and rugby venues among the venues for three separate round-robin tournaments.

AFL.com.au
can exclusively reveal that Adelaide will host the first round-robin at Hindmarsh Stadium on a Thursday night, the week before the JLT Community Series begins.

There also a strong possibility of underlying politics here

Rob Gerard and Griffen are  liberal supporters,
hence why the state labour party is gifiting everything to AFL
over $550 million to redevelop Adelaide oval ( paying 90 million to clear the debt of the SACA ) ... supposed to be world class stadium and the SMA flog it off as much as possible to recover costs.
$275000 ( and in total $500000 ) for the local Adelaide AFLW team
provided financial commercial in confidence support to Ports AFL Chinese junket

And to the local game ?
nothing to AUFC
but plenty to local clubs ( like West Adelaide ) and artificial turf developments in the western suburbs
all around  election time
