In a separate County Court lawsuit lodged earlier this month, the ATO says Mr Sourasis's $6.7m debt to it comes from tax bills both he and companies he controlled failed to pay that date back as far as 2021.
Much of the debt relates to Mr Sourasis's Western Melbourne Group,
which owns Western United and is behind a stalled stadium development in Melbourne's west.
Mr Sourasis is attempting to restart the project with funding from a lender.
If the plan succeeds it would clear the bulk of his tax debt.
The amount now claimed by the ATO is almost $2m more than it said Mr Sourasis owed when it first took legal action against him over unpaid tax bills in November last year.
