I have to say that if the newly financially crippled A-league means more of these kids get more game time instead of recycling late 20 and 30-something journeymen that have hit their ceiling then bring it on.

Some of them were a revelation in the ACL that we might not otherwise have seen. Sydneys' young midfielder Naumhoff(?) was amazing and looked more than comfortable against some Asian powerhouses. Buhagiar could have had 9 goals for the tourney instead of 5 or 6. The Perth kids Stynes and Bodnar were great too and there were others that really impressed.

This is exactly what the A-league should be. A development league that puts these kids in the shop window early so they can be traded to bigger leagues at a young age. Good for the clubs, and the players. The league wont suffer either from young, fast, attack minded players. Mix in some quality senior players and visa players and it might not be quite the spectacle it was (not that it was anyway) but it might just be sustainable and we could end up with better players across the board and a more entertaining league.

Don’t tell Scott Jameson this because clearly he isn’t a fan of the development league tag.
