It’s coaches like Corica (which is most coaches) that have created this mess. They whinge no matter what’s the rules are and always want  “clarification” - coaches whinge about the current laws, and they whinged about the previous laws.

If there was NO handball rule then every promising attack would be stopped with a handball and the game would change entirely. So there has to be a handball rule.

If EVERY time the ball hits the hand/arm it is an offence then footballers would stop playing football and start playing “lift ball” where the objective is to get a free kick at goal by deliberately lifting the ball in to an opponent’s arm. The game would change fundamentally as defenders start to look like Riverdance extras. So not every handball can be an offence.

Which leaves us where we are now, and where we’ve always been, a handball offence is a subjective offence with the match officials having the only opinion that matters.

Until we accept that point coaches will always moan and social media will always magnify what is a pointless argument.
