+x+xDoes beg the question though. Why are lesbians overrepresented in women's professional sports?
Are they lesbians because they play sport. Or are they sporty because they're lesbians? (I count at least 6 (outed publicly) of the Matildas that went to the Olympics. That's 30% and well north of the average population.)
What's the go? Do notice a fair few of the girls that are quite good in whatever sport you care to choose can look 'blokey'.
More testosterone perhaps? (Gives an advantage maybe?)
My guess would be professional sport makes 'relationships' difficult to maintain more so for women then men. They spend weeks and months bunking up together so if you are more diverse with your sexuality it is pretty easy to form a relationship with a team mate.
I think regardless of feminist wanting to admit it men and women are wired differently - im going to over generalist here so dont hate me im aware we cant paint both genders with a black and white brush but im speaking generally.
as a pro athlete i dare say most of the males are happy to have casual sex with super models and have a fulfilling romantic life (at least till they get married). Being a pro athlete generally makes access to multiple female sexual partners a lot easier. Males are wired evolutionary to spread their seed. It also means there gfs/wives are more then happy to wait whilst there off earning mega $$$ as women tend to be more patient.
Women are wired to nest, have comfort in relationships - they are less inclined to have casual sex and more include for meaningful relationships. Thus it is much harder to find a guy willing to wait whilst your off for 9 months playing football if you are dating.
Yes im aware this might come off sexist and i dont mean it to be that way but that is just my opinion.
In regards woman playing 'male' sports, I always thought it a self reinforcing prejudice. Which is finally starting to change.
Women playing male sports were just dismissed as Butch lesbians. Teenage girls interested in the sport, sensitive to how they were perceived, and who were not butch lesbians, played something else due to the stigma.
Leaving the sport to those who were butch lesbians, and were not afraid of being seen as such. These were often mature women, as even a teenage butch lesbian may be scared of the stigma.
Simple numbers are telling us that has now changed. Then numbers of women and young women, playing 'male' sports code these days shows the majority are not gay, we just dont have that many gay women.
This was actually seen as an issue 5-10 years ago, as it was seen as lgbt women losing a 'safe' space. No longer able to act gay in the changeroom, if the team is full of straight teenagers.
