This is a delusional thread. We were lucky to get Guus and he looked at what was available and only signed up because he thought he could do something with them. If you read his book, you will discern this. And Guus had the best generation of Socceroos ever at his disposal and they only just scraped in to qualify. Kewell, Viduka, Bresciano, Cahill, Schwarzer etc. No top coach of that quality will ever take Australia again unless we break the bank. Our players are shit at international level, and even shit in Asia. So we will now only get mid-tier Bert Van Marwicks at best or Australians, unless we break the bank. We need to be honest at just how shit our players are because this affects who wants to coach us. It’s sad and will be a good ten to twenty years back to 2006 levels, if we do the right things (and the right things will require a lot of money and planning and integration of the ethnics and old soccer). So this sack Arnie shit is delusional because you think we’ll get much better outcomes based on the coach alone when the biggest problem is the quality of the cattle.
