With a Second Division kicking off next year, I believe the time is ripe for Football to embrace the concept of an Inter State/Territory Cup based on the existing Federations.
This year it could be run in the later half of the year, with two knockout phases.
Phase 1 - two games (Game A and B) drawn from a hat, first out gets home advantage, winners progress. Losers play off for final spot
Northern NSW Northern Territory Tasmania Western Australia
Phase 2: Knock out, two rounds and final
Australian Capital Territory New South Wales Queensland South Australia Victoria Winner Game A Winner Game B Best Loser
In 2024 this could become a whole of year series, both Mens and Womens. It may even be worthwhile from a developmental perspective to have younger age groups participate. There are enough International windows to have a full series.
The 2024 draw would be an "event" made for TV/streaming, with the first team drawn being the home team. In later parts of the draw, this may not work out as the idea would be to have 4 home and 4 away games each year. In 2025 the home team would reverse and so on.

+x+xThey ran this this year. It wasn't really well promoted. Also QLD vs VIC last year at end of season.... agree about non visibility though.... Qld played Vic again at the end of this season, only a few weeks ago.
