+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+x1 game in the last 3 rounds has drawn a crowd of over 10k, and it was the biggest derby in the league (Syd vs WSyd) This is so grim. Just move the league to Winter. The crowds will 100% not get worse. The code is simply not big enough to be hunting for "clear air" Wellington, MelbC, Bris, Newcastle all need stadiums of 10k capacity to increase the match day epxerience. This is last straw type stuff. Have always been against it - but i'd say it's time to make each team get a proper marquee. The support/fans are there as we have seen in the past but there is literally nothing to get excited about. Generate interest, get people to the game, get people talking about the game and then somehow attempt to convert the people in to long term fans. No other way. There ARE plenty of long term fans of the game, in every city, mate. They are just either watching Euro leagues on tellie or too involved in their own local grassroots stuff. Glory, like the other franchises, needs to give them a reason to be connected to the club... Results are great, marquees are "interesting" but fans need to feel a part of something, not just a resource for merchandising and viewership.... Community engagement. Heard CCM do this well, don't know what other clubs are like but at the moment there is absolutely zero from Perth. One other thing is ticket prices. During NSL, Perth tickets were $10, these days $40, its fucking insane. Don't think AFL/NRL even charge this much. This. I reckon this is the single biggest issue hurting Glory crowds. I used to frequently bring my "non hardcore-soccer-followers" mates to the Glory when tickets were about $20. It's just cringeworthy these days saying to a mate "Hey, wanna come to the Glory? It'll cost you $40 for a ticket. (Oh, and we're near the bottom of the table yet again)". Obviously I'm not privy to the accounting behind the scenes and I'm oversimplifying things, but surely a crowd of 12K paying $20 for a ticket is better than a crowd of 5K paying $40 for a ticket? GA tickets are $32.50, which is on a par with every other team in the league. To use a comparison, Orient played Derby in league 1 on Saturday, adult tickets started at GBP 30, roughly $60. +$5 handling fee or whatever it is that ticketmaster adds on. While I'm whinging; Other gripe of mine is the shed access. It used to be a case of just buying a GA ticket, and if you wanted to go in the shed, you'd line up at the shed entrance for a wristband. Yes, there could be a line to get into the shed, but it wasn't particularly onerous. Now you have specifically purchase a shed ticket and have to enter thru gate 1. You can no longer enter the ground and then decide on the spur of the moment to go into the shed. Glory fans also get a raw deal when it comes to memberships. Most expensive in the league by far. Standard adult GA membership cost $350. To put that into perspective, that's $50 higher than MV and $100 higher than CCM. How many home matches does that give you access to? Not sure how the league is scheduled but surely there are more than 10 x home matches? 13 home games, so $26.90 per game. Thats not that bad..... Surely? Not at all. However, it's still the most expensive in the league.
