Nestory Irankunda had been informally sounded out in the last 24 hours over whether he would be prepared to join the Olyroos squad to replace Marco Tilio, but declined a late approach after deciding that he was better off staying put with Adelaide

I suppose a lot of European clubs have held back their players. Perhaps even at the player's request also. Still, we can't afford that as much as other nations. It's just odd that we omit players and then make these last ditch begs.

Bayern didn't stop Tel playing at Toulon and now he has kicked on. I think Irankunda is also happy to wrap himself up in bubble wrap to ensure he gets to Munich unscathed. The thing is, an injury can happen absolutely anywhere. The long game is being played. Lets hope in a few years we can look back that it was worth it.

who knows, perhaps he noted that tillio got injured for the olyroos in the maurice novello tournament and lost a whole year of development?

I think its been fantastic all the youth tournaments the fa have done, a real positive over the last year. Well done to them. But I do see who its not for every youth player. The olympics, if we make it, are the 2nd bigeest tournament in the world imo so everyone should say yes if they get the opportunity
