LITCHFIELD and Olympic played out a dramatic draw in the opening round of the Women's Premier League soccer competition at the weekend.

Pre-season President's Cup winners Olympic got out of troubled waters when Litchfield scored an own goal in the dying seconds to draw the game.

Amber Harrington goalled in the 13th minute.

It wasn't until 30 minutes later that Olympic's Nicky Cotis got the equaliser before Shai Turner restored Litchfield's lead in the 53rd minute. Litchfield appeared to have the game in their hands but Jessie Stevens scored an own goal just as the referee blew time.

Meanwhile, Azzuri thrashed Palmerston 5-0 with Sarah Willington scoring three of her team's five goals.

Carol Ayres and Amanda Swift one goal each.

In the other Round 1 match Hellenic edged out Casuarina by a goal.

Yvonne Joukouvas was on fire with four goals including one from a penalty shot.

Faith Abio scored a double for Casuarina with Stephanie McManaway and an own goal by Ashley Davis-Marin their other point scorers.

In division 1 results Casuarina hammered Litchfield 10-1.

Philomena Chisolm, Faith Abio and Tanya Buchan all scored two goals with singles to Verena Mac, Beatrice Justo, Serena Rodrigues, Julia Goncalves.

Kate Booth completed a hat-trick in Rangers' 6-0 demolition of Mindil FC.

Anjea Travers, Annette Murphy and Rose Lyon each contributed one each.
