Looked at it but two South Africans at work convinced me otherwise ...

Whereas having done extensive research and being in contact with many South Africans on a daily basis over the past 2 years I've lost most of my inhibitions about going.

There will be 43,000 security working at stadiums, and 198,000 overall. The SAFFAS are going absolutely overboard as part of a 7 year security plan.

Not 1 Australian has been murdered in South Africa since at least the end of apartheid in 1994.NOT ONE,ZERO,ZILCH

Absolute worst case scenario-because of the exchange rate, you can employ an off duty Police Officer as a bodyguard for around $55 AUD pd to put you're mind at rest.We won't be resorting to anything of the kind.We will be alert, but not alarmed.I've picked specific areas to stay,we will drive throughout and we will stay on the main drag and in groups-that is all we need do.

Enjoy the TV coverage while my SA v World match takes place,or while I'm in Kruger or overlooking the Durban waterfront,or celebrating a famous victory against England,or watching 8 of the top 20 teams play in various other matches
