FORMER Adelaide United and Adelaide City defender Angelo Costanzo scored for the Cobras against his old club last night, but it wasn't enough as the Black and Whites recorded a 2-1 win at Adelaide City Park.

Goals from Daniel Spagnuolo and Nick Budin kept Adelaide City in the finals hunt.

MEANWHILE, Metrostars firmed as early season favourite to win successive titles after smacking Cumberland United 5-2 at the weekend.

The belting has already split the Super League into two groups - the finals contenders and the relegation battlers.

MetroStars are 11 points clear of bottom club Raiders only five rounds into the season.

The reigning Super League champion opened up a three-point lead over second-placed Campbelltown with a powerhouse display at Bailey Reserve. It was MetroStars' second 5-2 scoreline of the season after pounding Campbelltown by the same margin in March.

Former Newcastle Jets striker Scott Tunbridge scored a brace while Steven Grelli, Louis Brain and Michael Matricciani all found the net against Cumberland.

The new-look Raiders earned its second point of the campaign in a scoreless draw with Blue Eagles at the Croatian Sports Centre.http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/soccer/metrostars-lighting-up-league/story-e6frectc-1225861943581
