Good news, bad news for Tamworth FC

TAMWORTH FC might welcome back two first grade stars for tomorrow’s debut game on its new home ground against Armidale’s Demon Knights but will be missing three other first graders for the NEM Premier League clash.

Tim Smith and Scott May return for FC after missing its win over North Companions but the Wayne May-coached side will be missing Harry Young, Adam Schultz and Robert Jeffery.

“Harry’s still injured, Adam has a wedding to go to and Jeffo has a work commitment he can’t get out of,” May said.

“Phil Kellaher will probably step up again but I haven’t decided on who else will come up.

“We’ve got pretty good depth this year and have some good young kids to bring up.

“Jeffo will be a big loss though.

“He’s been playing really well this year and has been the backbone of our defence.

“Tim and Scott will strengthen up our midfield though.”

Tamworth FC enters the game with the one win from two games and coming after it bowed out of the Solo Cup last Saturday.

Demon Knights have two wins from their three games to be second on the PL ladder behind unbeaten North

Armidale.

Steve Buckley’s DK will pose another serious threat, May expects.

“Although I don’t know much about them this year,” he said.

“They’re going all right to be second.”

In other games this weekend, South Armidale Scorpions, unbeaten in their two games so far, tackle East Armidale at Doody Park, North Armidale Redmen host Gunnedah United and North Companions head to Armidale to play UNE at Consett Davis, UNE.

North Companions and UNE are yet to win a game.

Reigning premiers Oxley Vale Attunga, fresh from last Saturday’s second-round Solo Cup win, travel to Inverell to play Joeys FC.
