What is the obsession Pim Verbeek has with an injured Harry Kewell? Countries such as Brazil have dropped injured players in favour of those who are fully fit, yet Pim persists with Kewell. Harry should do the right thing and withdraw from the Socceroos' World Cup squad. He need look no further than Fulham striker Bobby Zamora, who opted to go to the operating table so that he is fully fit to play football next season instead of accepting an offer to join the England squad.

Goodbye Pim Verbeek, Australian soccer could only be pleased with his departure. Yes, he has got us to the World Cup, however he has not come even close to embracing the game in this country, especially the A-League. His ongoing commentary on the status and quality of the A-League and its participants has slowed the league's progression. It's true that Verbeek, like most coaches, is a gun for hire but my advice to the FFA in making its next appointment is to employ a coach who wants to meld and support the soccer competitions in this country and not detract from them.
