Germans want to 'embarrass opponents'

Germany coach Joachim Loew wants his side to humiliate their World Cup rivals - starting with Australia in Sunday's Group D opener.

The Germans are considered favourites to top the group while the Socceroos are deemed the underdogs in a pool that also contains Ghana and Serbia.

'We want to be able to embarrass opponents with our playing skills,' said Loew.

'We couldn't have done any more up to this point. That's why my conscience is clear and I have a really good feeling about the tournament.

'The team has been enthusiastic and ready to learn. Now we are just correcting small errors. We are going into the tournament well prepared.'

Loew has reason to be upbeat, with Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose looking closer to getting his form back.

Klose was a surprise selection by Loew considering the 32-year-old only mustered three goals all last season.

'He (Klose) told me that he felt a lot better,' said Loew. 'He was very agile, quick in his actions in training.

'He's slowly getting his form back, and he's getting fresher physically as well. Miro can still be very important to us.'

This kind of arrogance is what i was hoping for.

Germans don't seem to be able to do modest very well(re: WWII) which plays right into our hands.

This is where we thrive and tbh, Pim's structure is suited perfctly for these kinds of teams.
