as far as i'm aware this should be a one match suspension. The pdf available at fifa.com titled: "FIFA World Cup 2010 South Afica - Regulations" has the following law under the heading "Disciplinary Matters"
1. Disciplinary incidents are dealt with in compliance with the FIFA Disciplinary Code in force and all relevant circulars and directives, with which the participating member associations undertake to comply.

and then from the "FIFA Disciplinary Code" also taken from Fifa.com. Under article 18 "Expulsion"
4. An expulsion automatically incurs suspension from the subsequent match, even if imposed in a match that is later abandoned and/or annulled. The Disciplinary Committee may extend the duration of the suspension.

So the Disciplinary Committee would have to have some reason to extend Tim's one-match ban, which I can't see happening.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Red Card D-Day For Cahill?
TODAY is D-Day for Socceroo star Tim Cahill as he will find out whether he receives a one or two-match ban for his red card against Germany.

Have your say.
