Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen may skip the remainder of New Zealand's World Cup campaign.

Nelsen is ready to give New Zealand the boot - if his wife goes into labour early.

The Kiwi skipper's second child is due on World Cup final day.

But he said: "If it comes early, it could be interesting.

"If it did, I'd have to get on the plane and head straight home.

"Nothing would stop me being at my child's birth."

Nelsen, 32, faces world champions Italy tomorrow and added: "We believe we can get a result."

I swear I read a long time ago, you weren't even allowed to view these things. Anyways, I'm sure raising the kid is more than enough. Like as if the kid will even know when yer there. He's already done it. I guess personally, it wouldn't bother me to much - his wife on the other hand, can't have that nagging over yer head ;)

My dad never saw me born cause he was working overseas. Didn't scar me or my mum...

Its just a sign of the times...IMO its more important what you do in the many years ie rest your life, of of parenting after the birth that counts Plenty of kids that hardly ever see their dads, many who were there at the birth.
