Spain striker David Villa admits he is not proud of his slap on Honduras defender Emilio Izaguirre.

The newly-recruited Barcelona man scored twice during the Group H clash on Monday, but also missed from the penalty spot.

Japanese referee Yuichi Nishimura took no action as Villa struck Izaguirre in the face as they waited for a free-kick to be taken in the first half.

And the 28-year-old says he just reacted out of instinct when raising his hands towards Izaguirre.

He told Canal Plus: "It's not something that I am proud of. They're just instincts, in this case I wasn't expecting (Izaguirre) to tread on me.

"I was merely standing there and the reaction was to stick my arm out. I'll try in future to keep my cool."

Fifa will wait to receive the referee's report from the match between Spain and Honduras before deciding whether to take any retrospective action against Villa.

A Fifa spokesman said: "At the moment we have no information on David Villa. We will wait for the referee's report before making any decisions."

Spain picked up a vital three points against Honduras and now face a crunch game against Chile on Friday.

Would a massive massive loss for Spain if he is rubbed out. Of course he won't be but they really would be in the shit if he was.
