THE reinforcements are coming as the Whitsunday Miners look for vital points in the clash tonight with the QAS at Magpies ground.

Striker Michael Van Moolenbroek, who left the Miners at the end of last season to rejoin his premier league club Wanderers, has been named on the bench as a guest player.

Captain Brett Neeve is also flying back today after a four-week holiday in South Africa supporting the Socceroos in their World Cup campaign, and has been named at full-back.

Miners coach Troy Mundy said some things were still to be finalised, but he was hopeful that Van Moolenbroek could become a part of the team, which is desperate to win matches to give them a chance to reach the top four in the

remaining seven games before finals.

“He’s got a few commitments with work and Wanderers first and foremost,” Mundy said.

“He definitely can play at this level and score goals.

“Mick’s always been a good player.”

The return of Van Moolenbroek and several other ex-Miners players has helped Wanderers’ resurgence in the Mackay premier league to the point where they have virtually wrapped up the premiership.

Neeve flies in today from Singapore, but Mundy had no hesitation slotting him straight back in for tonight’s game.

“They’re a bit of a bogey team for us, we’ve never beaten them,” Mundy said of the QAS which is made up of leading under-19 players.

“They beat us 4-2 down there (in Brisbane) last time and they’ve just come off two wins.”

The Miners were shattered when the FNQ Bulls scored a late goal in the 89th minute last week for a 1-0 win, but Mundy is confident they can bounce back for a win tonight.

WHITSUINDAY MINERS: Brad Moss, Nelson Burgess, Braden Burgess, Graham Harvey, Kyle McBurney, Corey Hooper, Daniel Scotton, Tyson Masters, Ben Schaper, Matthew Zappone, Ryan Evetts, Eddie Skien, Brett Neeve, Michael Van Moolenbroek, Luke Nightingale.
