The World cup is over for another 4 years let’s look back for a second at a competition full of color, a strange ball, refereeing controversy, a physic octopus and of course some great football.

The Champions: Spain deserved to win the played with Spanish fair and was simply the best team on the park when it came down to it and play fantastic football.

A new legend has risen: Diego Forlan will be remembered by his country for all of time

Superstar flopped: Cristano Ronaldo, Torres, Rooney etc all failed to shine, this tournament was about the little players ie Suarez, Ozil and Honda

Australia can take form the World cup: Brett Holman rise to glory and a new era of Australian football begins.

What the World can take from this WC: A good football structure in place and strong emphasis on technical football from grass roots can turn you in to a World cup winning nation. Having a strong league full of foreigners and divides between players can only take you so far.

Final word: Congratulation Spain, thank you South Africa and bring on Brazil 2014

I think this blog shows there are 2 types of Football supporters.

One who watches and waits for perfection, creative play, esp communication and linking plays. Very high skill level.

The second want attacking, fast, edge of the seat stuff with plenty of mistakes which opens the defense and allows for shots.

I like a blend of both creative attacking play, while making enough mistakes to make it interesting. That’s why I love the A League. Plenty of “lets have a go” with mistakes.

I’m afraid watching 2 perfect Barcelona “Fozzy” type teams play each other would be boring. No one would ever be able to score a goal. Nil nil.

I pretty much agree with that summation, though I enjoy watching Barca play - Spain are trying to play like Barca without the same level of ability.
