MELBOURNE has reached 20,000 members before Christmas for the first time in the club’s history.
On the back of the debt demolition project and a re-modelled club logo for 2011, club president Jim Stynes thanked supporters for their commitment.

“It’s a fantastic effort by our supporters and we thank them enormously for their contribution,” he said.

Stynes said the Demons were determined to reach their target of 40,000 members before the beginning of the 2011 season.

“We won’t rest on our laurels and we’re aiming to smash our total for last year and head towards 40,000 members.”

The result means the Demons have signed up more than 2000 extra members than this time last season.

At 11am today, the Demons had 20,003 members for next season.

Meanwhile, West Coast's first wooden spoon hasn't turned off fans, with more than 44,000 members already signed up for 2011.

The Eagles will today announce an operating profit of $2.8 million.

The club has announced major sponsors Hungry Jacks and SGIO will continue with the club next season.

So as of the most recently completed financial year, the AFL makes roughly half of its revenue from the broadcast deal.
I think the FFA would have a similar ratio (just thinking off the top of my head).
