There are some rumours going around in various transfer discussion threads in England, that David Carney could be going to League One side Notts County.

http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/football-transfer-rumours/rumours2.php

Possibly BS, but there are two rumours there that link him to the club. So maybe it doesn't have something into it. Also one there that suggests he could be joining Coventry City.

FWIW, Carney was linked with Notts in 2009.

Would be an awful move if true.

He hasn't had a great deal of game time at Twente or Blackpool. I wouldn't be suprised if this went through - at either club. It wouldn't be good for his NT chances, but maybe it'll turn good.

WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

Agreed. Is far more damaging to his career to move from club to club and keep getting minimum game time. The money's in Europe, but sometimes you've just gotta cut your losses and do what's best for your career. He would be one of the better paid players in the A-League and would get plenty of game time. Why he would think it's better to keep sliding down the divisions in England is beyond me. In my opinion, if you aren't playing at PL or Championship level, you'r not really getting offered a better standard of football than the A-League. Carney has been trying his hand overseas for a while now and his only real success has been his stint in the A-League. A number of Aussies have returned from the lower leagues in England and, although they've not been bad players, they have hardly been a huge cut above the rest. At least in the A-League you have the chance to play in continental competitions. You're not gonna get that opportunity, or exposure, at a lower league club in England. Carney's got talent, but his career would suggest he's best suited to the style of play we have in Australia. It's high time he realised that and stopped thinking he's too good for the A-League (particularly if he's prepared to sign for clubs like Notts County).

Not sure how you arrive at this point? how is he better served playing at a lower level in the A-League.

For clubs overseas he will go off their radar completely if he moves back.

The A-League is clearly a league for young players coming through the youth league + a retirement package for socceroos winding down.

Perhaps it would be better for the A-LEAGUE if he came back, not the other way round.

So after failing with a trial with West Ham will we now eventually see him in the A-League?

I have no idea, but can he seriously get a move on? :-s

It is nearly mid-October, 2 months after the majority of competitions have kicked off.

Really, it just reeks of him not being wanted by any club. Come back to the A-League, David.

Bouzanis as well...
