VEKIC HEADED FOR HK 25/07/2011 First team goalkeeper and fans favourite Nenad Vekic has spoken exclusively with the Olympic Ultras on his shock transfer to Hong Kong First Division side Tuen Mun FC. The up and coming shot stopper has been in good form for Olympic with a solid run in the first team before veteran Paul Henderson’s return from A-League duty matched in the regular season with some solid performances in the under 20s. Keen for a move, Vekic made his performances count and made himself heard, getting into contact with former Red Star great Dejan Antonic, now coach of the Hong Kong national team. “I spoke with Dejan Antonic, he played for Yugoslavia when they won the under-21 World Cup in Chile in 1987,” said Vekic. “We had a chat, he saw my highlight video and that’s that, I’m off at the end of the month.” First stop for young Nenad will be to fight for a first team place for Hong Kong First Division side Tuen Mun FC, where Antonic is also the head coach. Before leaving for the Orient however Vekic made sure he spoke with the Ultras and thanked the team and the fans. “Now that it’s all been finalised I just wanted to thank Sydney Olympic for their support, they really helped to get me over there,” Vekid mentioned, adding that “I really just wanted to publicly thank George [Giannaros, SOFC President], the community, and the whole Sydney Olympic family.” When instructed by the Ultras for him never to forget the club or their support, Vekic smiled, adding “Olympic are the best club in Australia, I wouldn’t play anywhere else.” The Olympic Ultras sincerely thank Nenad Vekic for his contribution as both fan and player of Sydney Olympic, and wish him all the best in his endeavours overseas. http://www.olympicultras.com.au/news/103

Daniel Severino signs with Hyundai A-league’s Gold Coast United posted by on July 5, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC’s newest addition Daniel Severino has signed a one year contract with A-league side Gold Coast United. Despite having played for several teams around the globe, such as, Italian club Piacenza, Millwall, Keflavik and Umea F.C Severino had yet to be signed by an A-league side until now. The talented 29 year old midfielder who is renowned as a master of set-pieces by both his coaches and football enthusiasts alike, recently trialled with the A-league side and impressed Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg. Upon returning from his trial, Severino signed with the current NSW Premier League table leaders Sydney Olympic FC and appeared in only two matches, in Round 14 against Sutherland Sharks and in Round 15 against Manly United FC. Though his experience and time at Sydney Olympic FC was short-lived Severino will surely be missed by the entire Sydney Olympic Football Club and its supporters. Sydney Olympic FC would like to thank Daniel for his contribution and would like to wish Daniel the best of luck with both his football career and future endeavours. http://www.sydneyolympicfc.com/news/2011/07/05/daniel-severino-signs-with-hyundai-a-leagues-gold-coast-united/

THE NEXT ONE: Sunday the 17th of July kick of at 3pm Venue: Belmore Sports Ground Match: Round 16 NSWPL Sydney Olympic FC v Parramatta Melita Eagles FC Invite on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=199469326767054More Info Parramatta Eagles are two wins from the last two games after the appointment of ex-Sydney Olympic player and former coach Manny Spanoudakis. Melita are on a high and Olympic are coming off a surprise lose against Manly United FC but we will welcome back from injuries and suspensions Chris Triantis, Husky Akil and Mannuel Giannaros. Many fans are concerned that that the 6 point lead we have at the top of the table has made the players complacent and lethargic in there mindset but the boys are fired up to win all three points against Parramatta in front of a bumper crowd at Belmore Sports Ground. There have been some historic clashes between the two sides throughout the history of the two great clubs and some found memories this match will not be any different. Melita need to win to avoid relegation. Olympic want to win because we are the premier football club in NSW across all leagues.

2-1 lose to Manly at home, decent crowd for a match versus Manly as there parents and friends dont watch them play.
Catanach scored a screamer and Olympic just looked flat as today.

Sydney Olympic FC gives hope to Hope Rwanda posted by on June 28, 2011 On July 2, 2011 Shire Live Church representative Shelley Ramsay will embark on a Mission Trek, visiting Hope Rwanda and Uganda, with the objective to restore hope and justice. Hope Rwanda is a village whereby the basic infrastructure has been built by funds raised through donations from Australia. Upon arrival, Shelley will join a generous team of fourteen volunteers who will assist with both building and medical projects which support house widows and orphans throughout poverty afflicted Rwanda and Uganda. Shelley and the team will also visit Watato Children’s Village in Uganda, a village built for young children who have been rescued from being child soldiers, as well as, young orphans who are suffering from the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. Shelley contacted Sydney Olympic FC with a simple request to receive a donation of soccer balls. Sydney Olympic FC decided to answer Shelley’s humble request and accumulated a box filled with Sydney Olympic merchandise and equipment, such as, deflated soccer balls, jerseys and stationery with the hope to bring enormous amounts of pleasure into the lives of the young orphans, who have endured a lifetime of injustice. Sydney Olympic FC obtained a letter of gratitude by Shire Live Global Administrator, Melissa Yates which states “Thank you for your generous gift to the projects in Rwanda and Uganda. Thank you for believing in this cause and assisting us in our effort to restore hope and a future to the Rwandan and Ugandan people”. Shelley was overwhelmed with happiness upon accepting the box of donations on behalf of the Shire Live Church, thanking the club for supporting Hope Rwanda and praising Sydney Olympic FC for its display of global compassion. Shelley also explained her initial request for a soccer ball, discussing the significance of the ball as a piece of equipment that can bind and captivate an entire group of children, providing memorable and cherished moments of joy and happiness. A representative from Sydney Olympic FC stated that “Sydney Olympic FC is not solely a historic Football Club; we are a club that aims and is proud to support the community both locally and abroad. We hope our display of compassion can be continued by the Club’s supporters and members, as well as, the greater community”. Sydney Olympic FC would like to encourage its members and supporters to assist and support Hope Rwanda, if you would like to make a donation to Hope Rwanda please click on the link below and follow the necessary instructions.
